A cat and mouse chase begins in this action-packed adventure when a mafia don leaves behind some diamonds worth millions after his death.

To make matters worse, a legal will of the deceased states that all three beneficiaries must be present at the same time in order to get their share of the diamonds, which are kept safely in a New York bank.

But here is the catch: In the event of any of the inheritor's death; the diamonds must be equally shared by the remaining parties, provided a death certificate is produced as evidence.

Involved in this escapade is the don's son Vikrant (Rahul Dev); his daughter Preeti (Preeti Jhangiani) and son-in-law Gulab (Akshay Kumar).
However human greed comes into these characters lives which make Gulab and Vikrant rivals.

This film won't disappoint if one is after pure gloss and sheer escapism, just like The Matrix

Gulab is forced to flee India after he is wrongly framed by Vikrant for a crime he did not commit.

He settles in New York and soon strikes up a friendship with Dr Anmol and wife Mona unaware that they are both bounty hunters.

The twist comes when Vikrant issues a reward for Gulab's whereabouts. This prompts Mona to send Anmol and her father Mannilal (Paresh Rawal) to India so that they can inform Gulab's hideout and collect the prize money.

But on reaching India, both these bounty hunters are met by contract killers Yeda (Sunil Shetty) and Chhota (Jhonny Lever) who decide to go to New York to kill Gulab.

What follows next is a series of nail biting chases which will have the audience gasping for their breaths as director Vikram Bhatt takes them through a series of 'The Matrix' style sequences in order to reach the diamonds!
Technically this film is extremely stylish and seems to match its Hollywood counterparts to a tee. This includes the car stunts which appear in the climax scenes.

Anu Malik's music is superb and does blend easily with the narration on the screen. Watch out for 'Feenak Ya Habibi Feenak' and 'Ek Haseena Ek Deewana' which are striking against a glossy picturization and wonderful choreography.
Performance by all the lead stars is excellent but as usual Paresh Rawal takes the trophy once again for providing the laughs.

On the whole, 'Awaara Pagaal Deewana' is a great entertainer for all the family. Pure escapist cinema at its technical best.
