Thanks,

I was annoyed about the comments about Nuneaton made in the 大象传媒2 programme on Tuesday called a Country Parish. Nuneaton is not a grey industrial sprawl and is not depressed. We have lovely parks, schools and a large street market twice a week. I find it a very desirable area.

The newsnight special on bbc2

I had to write in re the remarks made by a young gentleman about Tony Blair being vice president to George Bush,I found it very rude and for some to snigger even worse.

One might not agree with his politics, but not one person could run the country ,nor would know what to do with the present crisis in the audience last night.

It's easy to snigger as well as come up with a useful comment, I am of the
thought the conflict has to be met for the safeguard of future generations, in the last
world war appeasement to Hitler and turning our backs did not work.

RE Bollywood section.

I don't think mujse dosti karogi is the best recent film, its just a copy of Kuch kuch hota hai which is the most brilliant film i have ever seen.

From the list i'd say that Dil hai tumarah is the best as it made me cry when i watched it
Shabina Azmi

The late show, 10pm onwards, has been a pleasure to listen to over the last few weeks as the presenter would listen to people and give them time to talk without being interrupted. All has changed now that Shabina Akhthar is back!

RE your review

The bootleg beatles are the best tribute band ever ever going, please don`t run down the guys they just spot on every time.

I'm afraid there are no plans to release a CD or video of the Songs of Praise Christmas edition from Coventry Cathedral for copyright reasons.

The Songs of Praise team were, however, delighted to hear your comments so, you never know, we may get another show from the area in the future!

do you have or are there any plans to produce a CD of the music from this fantastic programme (Pete Watermans Songs of Praise).

it would be a real money spinner.

Please let me know if there is a CD I can buy?

Well done! What an absolutely splendid Carol Service from Coventry Cathedral! Both my husband and I thought it was the best thing on TV the whole of the Christmas Period. Is it possible to have a repeat please?

Pete Waterman you have a big heart and a great soul - just to see those youngsters faces was so uplifting. They all looked as though they were really enjoying themselves.

Just what our country needs, a bit of tradition, I'm all for it! Absolutely great stuff!

We wish Pete well in his endeavours to bring music into youngsters lives. We hope he will be able to put on another performance next Christmas. We can't wait!

Happy New Year to you all!

Songs of praise at Coventry Cathedral.

I was so impressed by the singing and the musical arrangements of the carols.

Congratulations to everyone involved and a very Happy Christmas.
Lyn Headon

can you please tell me if the version of silent night sung on last weeks songs of praise show is going to be released on cd?
graham gurvan

Are there any plans to release a CD recording of the carols featured in the Songs Of Praise program with Pete Waterman and choir? Brilliant viewing, thank you.
Andrew Sharp

I have to agree with Les and A Friston - the Songs of Praise from Coventry was fantastic. Really moving and touching from beginning to end. The choir were magnificent - but the rendition of Silent Night was the one that stood out for me. When the singer belted out the first note it brought a tear to my eye.

I thought that Pete Waterman's 'Songs of Praise' from Coventry Cathedral was absolutely brilliant. What he had to say about musical eduction and the benefits it can bring was spot on. I am an 'Oldie' who loves the traditional as well as appreciating the more modern church music, and I empathised totaly with what he said. The children so obviously enjoyed themselves as well. A great programme, well done.

Would just like to say that the Songs of Praise from Coventry was magnificent, thanks.

I have been following the 大象传媒 reports this week on Montgomery, his troops and exploits.

I currently live and own the site where Montgomery trained his troops. I moved here with my husband and son two years ago and developed an equestrian livery yard on the parade ground. The company is called Montgomery Equestrian in deference.
We still have a firing range wall in one of our fields.

The whole area is in fact dedicated to Monty and his troops.

Each time his name is mentioned, a little shudder passes through us as we know we live on the exact spot where this great legend once had his troops trained and in fact our house is placed exactly where the muster hall was -we know this as we had to demolish it.

Thank you for a personally interesting week!

I was just checking out your website and thought it was very interesting. It is good to get another perspective now and then.

I have never been to Coventry (or England for that matter) but someday maybe I will be lucky enough to get over there. Thanks.

I just want to say, from the possition of a media technology student, that the new template sucks! It's dull, boring, and is clearly designed by computing graduates who have no idea what is possible for the internet at the moment.

There is no use of flash, no rollovers, nothing that all good websites use. The old template was bad enough, but at least there was some variance in the plain-ness. This is boring and difficult to navigate. With each button I press I move further and further away from the story I was trying to read in the first place.

As part of my course, I make websites. I use images, programming, java script - do you/your template designers, even know what these things are?

As the 大象传媒, I expect you to be leading the way in internet technologies, but here I find a template for a website that is behind even a university student in terms of interactivity! And this is your job!
Fran Cuthbert
Media Tech student at the University of Lincoln

Hi Fran

Thanks for your responses, I'll try and answer them here.

The 大象传媒 has decided not to use advanced design like that available with Flash, not because it is unaware of good design, but because the priority for the site is to provide a fast, efficient service for all people, regardless of their internet connection.

I appreciate the template is very simple and does not challenge design styles, but we think it is very effective at communicating content.

I am also from a design background and used to design exclusively with Flash. However, I agree with the 大象传媒's position that content and communication for all users, regardless of connection and plug-ins, are the priority in this service.

I hope that helps. Good luck with the designing.

To Gavin Drake,
I think it is, as you say, just legend, with a tenuous link to Coventry with the medieval plays.

I also think St George, as you said, was a Middle Easterner. You may be interested to read the feature on our site about St.George in the features section.

Thank you for your comments.
Amy Elias
大象传媒 Coventry website

What Tosh!

You said in your 11:00 news bulletin that St George was reputed to have been born in Coventry. Reputed by who?

St George was a Palestinian, born in Cappadocia. And it is because he was a Palestinian that we don't celebrate St
George's Day in England. As a nation we are institutionally racist and can't bear to think that OUR patron saint may be a Johnny Foreigner.

It was local plays that introduced a Coventry link in the 17th and 18th Centuries - before this there is no suggestion that St George was from Coventry, visited Coventry or visited
England. Coventry didn't exist at the time of St George.

St George was beheaded in Lydda - again in Palestine - for tearnig down an anti-Christian edcit from Diocletian.

Come on WM, give us the news - you are the 大象传媒. You have a duty to educate, inform and entertain. Saying in a news bulletin that St George was from Coventry might be entertaining to some, but it neither informs or educates.

Regards,
Gavin Drake

Well done!

The site is one way I will keep in touch with my home and my radio station when I finally leave my home city in two weeks time.

It will be strange to be away from Coventry, and I wish you all thanks for the last twelve years of 大象传媒 in Coventry.
Stephen Brookes MBE

I heard a lady on Radio WM say that this site was mainly for the 18 to 40 age group, why?

Many people over 50 have time to look at sites therefore I do not see the reasoning that it is mainly for the 18 to 40's. It should be targeted to all ages.
Tony Ainsworth
Location not supplied

The site is aimed at a younger audience than the radio because the 大象传媒 feels a responsibility to all age groups.

The radio has been perceived as mainly appealing to more mature people (I'm choosing my words carefully here!) so the 大象传媒 decided to redress the balance with a new site.

Of course anyone can access the site, though, and we're delighted you're here and that you've taken an interest.

Hopefully people of all ages will enjoy the site, anyway, as our aim is to cover everything interesting or significant in Coventry and Warwickshire.
