19th May 1980 - 27th June 1983
Born: 24th October 1958
Presented with Christopher Wenner, Tina Heath, Simon Groom, Peter Duncan and Janet Ellis.
"The hardest part of being asked to join the team was keeping it secret until the day of my first programme," said Sarah at the time. "My eight-year-old sister's a firm fan - she's actually won a Blue Peter badge! I didn't dare tell her the good news in advance - I think she might have burst!"
Sarah Greene first appeared on Blue Peter as a guest, when she was interviewed about her role in the Sunday teatime drama The Swish of the Curtain, along with the rest of the cast.
Impressed with her natural ability in front of the camera, Sarah was asked by Biddy Baxter to audition to replace Tina Heath. In just two weeks she was whisked away to Cornwall to make two reports, and on the following Monday she made her debut on the show. At just 22 she was the (then) youngest ever presenter.
During her stint the production team capitalised on Sarah's acting ability and love of dressing up. Sarah's assignments were just as tough as the boys', with the most memorable being Sarah diving to the wreck of the Mary Rose.
When Sarah left the programme it was announced that she was returning to acting. After working on the show Eureka in 1983, Sarah was signed up to present with DJ Mike Reid. After a three-year stint Sarah was promoted to co-presenter alongside Philip Schofield on .
During this period she met and married presenter Mike Smith. Disaster nearly struck in 1988 when the helicopter Mike was piloting crashed, with Sarah on board. Luckily both survived the ordeal.
Since Going Live Sarah has continued to present programmes, such as The Young Musician of the Year, Posh Frocks and New Trousers and Collector's Lot. In 1985 she returned to acting to play a bubble-wrap clad alien in the Doctor Who story Attack of the Cybermen.
In 1992 she combined both acting and presenting and joined husband Mike, Craig Charles and Michael Parkinson for , 大象传媒's spoof investigation into the paranormal.
The result was classic TV, with many viewers jamming the 大象传媒 switchboard when it appeared that Sarah had been killed. Fortunately, we can report that Sarah is alive and well and is still working.
