I, ET
By Sally Lapiduss
Directed by Pino Amenta

REVIEW
This was an excellent reversal of all the usual alien contact stories, smartly putting John Crichton in the place of the little green men. As the one character coming to terms with meeting alien life, Crichton learned from having to calm down aliens meeting him.

That was the point of the episode and all of the plotting really directed us to this circumstance. But the story was also of the type that develops the series, one that makes significant difference to the overall story. We got to see Moya as much more than a usual starship. she became a genuine character in this episode because we saw the ship in pain and working with the regulars.

Perhaps the aliens were just too similar to humans and the chance of meeting who they did too similar to normal alien contact stories, but as metaphor, it was first rate.

back to ploton to did you notice?
