Exodus From Genesis
By Ro Hume
Directed by Brian Henson

REVIEW
If it weren't for the threat of the Peacekeepers, this would have felt like a cop-out episode as well as a bit of a copy. The invasion and the slowly building threat from the Draks is reminiscent of a hundred Doctor Who stories and it's at least as effective as those until the end.

The Draks turn out to be fairly nice, if lacking social skills, and that's like a switching off of the threat rather than a resolution of it. Having the Peacekeepers be the real threat is a very good idea but there was no escalation to them, no reason beyond plot convenience why they attacked when they did. Perhaps if the Peacekeepers had boarded at the same time as the Draks and were stealthily taking over it would have been more effective, but then the Peacekeepers don't tend to be stealth-like about anything.

Equally, the heat problem for the Peacekeepers is a good idea that's not entirely successful. The entire Peacekeeper force collapses very quickly from the heat despite being fit and trained while Aeryn, out of training, survives much longer.

It was fun, it was an interesting mystery but maybe it needed longer to get all the ideas in and make the most of them.

back to ploton to did you notice?
