That Old Black Magic
By Richard Manning
Directed by Brendan Maher

REVIEW
You're not a true science fiction series if you don't take your hero and your baddie and make them have a fight - and have our hero refuse to kill the baddie because that's just not the way we do things in America/Australia/Starfleet.

Farscape is very good at taking ordinary SF themes and playing with them but here the plot is so close to that of Star Trek and Blake's 7 that there's not as much room for the normal fun. It was fun how Crichton gave up trying to persuade Crais and just got on with the fight, though. And his final blow, the one that knocks Maldis into a reddish incorporeal form, was if nothing else a far better punch than Kirk or Blake ever managed.

It's also good that Crais got a bit more depth this time - he's no longer the camp enemy. His moves to continue the search for Crichton look promising too as it's surely not going to be long before he's got the Peacekeeper force after him.

So this was a familiar enough episode but with Crais and Zhaan's beginning to struggle with her past, it looks very promising for the future.

back to ploton to did you notice?
