Episode Guide  |  Season Three
Infinite Possibilities Part II: Icarus Abides

Caught between vicious enemies and untrustworthy allies, Crichton fights to protect the Ancients.

Aeryn and CrichtonWritten by Carleton Eastlake
Directed by Ian Watson

With Scorpius seemingly gone from Crichton’s mind, the real battle now rages around him as neither Furlow nor the alien Jack may be trusted. And as the unlocked knowledge of the Ancients slowly reveals itself to Crichton, the Scarran dreadnought is closing in.

Even with Farscape it is routine to have the hero in ultimate danger that reveals itself to be really only penultimate danger as he somehow survives. But only in Farscape do you genuinely doubt that he will and really only in this are you right.

For the storyline of having two Crichtons has been played out tremendously well and with such perfect timing that we now care about both equally – and we lose one of them. Despite knowing deep down that they couldn’t both last forever, having that possibility meant that all the scenes of near-death in this episode felt that much closer, that much more risky.

Potentially this also resolves Farscape’s other brave storyline with Aeryn and Crichton: again, every show has such a relationship but all others keep the will they/won’t they line up for too long. Now that we’ve had Aeryn and Crichton together on Talyn only for her to lose him, we’re back to will they between Aeryn and the Crichton on Moya. She can’t easily go to him but he’s falling ever deeper for her.
