Next stop, Oxenholme Oxenholme? Surely you mean Kendal, Lee? Ahh but no the main train station for Kendal is called Oxenholme, strange but true. So you grab the Windermere branch line into Kendal station (well if you can call a stone hut a station) and here you are, Kendal. So what now then? Well first things first, what are you into? Music! Oh music eh? Well you couldn't do worse than heading down to Circa Records for a browse. Circa is Kendal's indie record store and can get you just about anything, just pop in give Jim or Karen a smile and a wink (well and a couple of quid) and they're yours.

Of course if you get the chance you could also get to the Brewery Arts Centre which has the amazing gig venue that is the Malt Room or there's Dickie Doodles which has live music every night of the week and the infamous electric jam night on Tuesday's. Art! Well then how about the Abbot Hall art gallery on the banks of the river Kent which was one of five art galleries in the country to benefit from a partnership with the Tate gallery and is well known through the county for its regular rotating exhibitions from major artists.ÌýÌý And Break! So where do you go to relax then in Kendal? Well there are all your normal commercial fast food chains in Kendal to eat at but it would be boring to talk about that (and also against the ´óÏó´«Ã½'s editorial guidelines). So how about some one of a kind Kendal eateries.

Well you've got plenty of choice in Kendal, there are restaurants everywhere (there's only more pubs in Kendal than restaurants) from the quaint coffee houses down the winding alleys to the kebab takeaways after a night out. Kendal's got them all. Money! So you've got an hour to kill before your train and some money to burn before you go why not try some of Kendal's shops.
| Switch Survival in Kendal |
You've got places like the shopping centres in Kendal where you can get just about anything you can in any other town but then of course you have the shops just for Kendal. Well I've already mentioned Circa but how about Aquatics and Switch Survival where you can get just about anything you need clothing-wise. 30 Seconds Well that's the end of my whistle stop tour of Kendal. Of course hopefully you'll be hearing more about the place in weeks to come but for now, you've got a train to catch. Yeah to Oxenholme not Kendal. |
