Martin started his broadcast career at ´óÏó´«Ã½ Radio Cumbria and this is his second spell behind the microphone. In between times he "chanced his arm" elsewhere. In London at Radio 4 and elsewhere in the country for both commercial and ´óÏó´«Ã½ radio stations.

If not a broadcaster, what would you be?

Probably a computer engineer, or a warden with the Forestry Commission - "I just love trees."

Any little-known facts about you?

"I'm quite musical, I used to be a chorister at Carlisle Cathedral, but you wouldn't know it to hear me sing these days."

What do you do in your spare time?

What spare time?
I used to play badminton twice a week with friends in the village where I live, but even then I had to 'budget' for that luxury.

I'm married to Karen, my son Oliver runs a department in Harrods and my young daughter Megan…..runs ….rings round me!

As a freelance broadcaster I run my own company, so that keeps me off the streets for most of the time. I've usually of plenty of projects on-the-go and Karen complains she hardly sees me.
