Why Liz has spent time with the clowns from the Moscow State Circus ... and Sleeping Beauty!

What jobs do you do at ´óÏó´«Ã½ Radio Cumbria?

Well I've been at ´óÏó´«Ã½ Radio Cumbria for 4 years and up until January I was the Programmes Editor but now I've gone back to doing what I started my radio career doing and that's presenting, which is great!

How did you start your career in radio?

I started at hospital radio while I still worked in advertising at a local newspaper. I went in once a week with my box of records (carefully chosen not to upset the patients!! No Lonnie Donegan … think about it). It was a great way to learn how to put a programme together and talk in front of a microphone.

Where else have you worked?

I spent quite a time in commercial radio as a presenter and then Programme Controller before joining the ´óÏó´«Ã½ in Leeds in 1999.

What other jobs have you done besides working in radio?

Nothing exciting! Worked for the then electricity board for a while. That was an eye opener!

What would you do if you didn't work in radio?

Does Pierce Brosnan have a dresser? Is there someone who has to check out the walking, the Wiener Schnitzel and the beer in Austria every summer? Actually working on the golf European Tour would be nice.

What would listeners be surprised to learn about you?

One Christmas I starred in professional pantomime with Ted Rogers and Dusty Bin!! It was Sleeping Beauty … and I played … her mother!!

What do you do when you're not at work?

Walk my dogs! We have two labradors called Fred and Ozzy and I love playing golf and gardening. Not at the same time though!

Any famous interviewees?

Lots. I've been really lucky! Donny Osmond, Joan Collins, Natalie Cole, Ricky Gervais, Robin Gibb, Claude-Michel Schoenberg (the composer of Les Miserables) and many, many more!

I even spoke to a very well known comedian who was … how can I put it … tired and emotional at the time!!

Other interesting information?

Presented an interesting programme with the clowns from the Moscow State Circus once. Probably a story for another time. I also know a few bits of showbiz gossip that I couldn't possibly repeat ... well maybe one day!
