Derby's Big Screen

The Big Screen, Derby

With a 360 degree camera on top and ability to interact with events below, Derby's Big Screen is much more than just a big telly. Why not make sure you're on it?

What's it all about?

Think of it as a city centre venue rather than a big screen. From live opera performances and concerts, to interactive games, events and videos from local bands, the screen offers something for you.

It interacts with live events in Derby's Market Place and showcase community projects, film makers and artists from across the region.

You can also see all the up-to-date information for Derby. This includes regularly updated City Diary listings and weather forecast as well as the latest news,Ìýsport and the best of what the ´óÏó´«Ã½ has to offer including special events such as Proms in The Park and The Electric Proms.

The arrival of the Big Screen makes Derby unique in the East Midlands. ItÌýÌýconnects the city to the other screen cities in the UK as well as screens across the rest of the world!!

It's been made possible by a partnership between the ´óÏó´«Ã½, Derby City Council and The University of Derby.

How can I get my event on the Big Screen?

The screen is free to use. The Screen Manager decides what goes on the screen so get in touch ifÌýyou've got something to show. This might be an interactive application, photographic slide show, film, music video, community information, event you'd like to tell other people about… you get the idea. If in doubt ask!

You could be a school or college, local filmmaker, festival wishing to tour content, community or arts organisation to name a few. We also welcome pitches for artistic ideas which use our technology in a creative way and engage passers by.

Remember the screen is more than just a big notice board so if you're planning an event in the Market Place try to think creatively about how you could involve the screen.Ìý If you're stuck for ideas – get in touch and we'll talk it over.

There's no deadline for submissions and the screen is a hungry beast so we're always on the lookout for content to feed it!Ìý

We need plenty of time to get your information or work onto the screen. We can't guarantee to show everything but we will take a look.

What sort of things do I need to think about?

The same ´óÏó´«Ã½ rules govern the Big Screen as all other ´óÏó´«Ã½ output be it television, radio, on line or live events. For more details on what this means to you, as well as how to contribute, click on the information below.
