It's been a record-breaking year for the Derby 10k and Fun Run.

Final figures put the number of runners in the 10k at around 3000 - with just under 900 running the Fun Run, the largest number of people ever.

This year's winner was Martin Whitehouse, from Burton-on-Trent, who runs for Notts AC. His winning time of 0:31:27 pushed him up to top spot on the podium following on from his second place last year.

Second over the line was John Gilby听in a time of 0:31:42 and third was Ian Williams at a time of 0:32:17.

The first woman over the line was Beth Eburne from the Hinckley Running Club (0:36:08) followed by Nicola Clay from Stilton Striders and Sharron Orridge of Long Eaton RC.

The races were staffed by more than 130 volunteers who came from a wide variety of organisations - The Prince's Trust, Derby College, Derbyshire Building Society, Police Cadets, Bennerly School, Wilsthorpe School, Sporting Futures mentors and coaches and the local community.

Race organiser, Kay Smith, of Sporting Futures said, "The runners, spectators and volunteers all contributed to a wonderful day, enjoyed by all. Organising the Derbyshire Building Society 10k and Fun Run enables us to raise money to help get young people involved in sport and away from crime, drugs and anti-social behaviour, making Derby a better place for all to live."

Also lending a hand was Sporting Futures patron and Burton Albion manager, Nigel Clough - he took part in the fun run with his daughter. He said, "There was a lovely atmosphere, it was great to see so many people taking part in an event like the fun run and the 10k. A lot of people have also turned out to support and cheer people on."
