Making a sand castle...

Your Childhood Holidays

Where did you go on holiday as a youngster? Britain's beaches? Caravans? Costa Del Skeggie? Share those childhood summer memories here...

Think back to those summers - when the sun was (almost) guaranteed to shine and the rain stayed away.

Holiday time. Factory fortnight. Shutdown fortnight.

Where did you go as a child? Where was the best place to go on holiday?

It might be that you headed for the east coast - Skegness, Whitby, Mablethorpe, Scarborough, Lowestoft, Great Yarmouth.

Maybe you went west... Blackpool, Southport, Morecambe, Minehead. Or Wales - Prestatyn, LLandudno, Tenby.

The beach huts are an unusual 'two storey' design

Huts on Weymouth beach

How about the south? Torquay, Bournemouth, Weymouth, Shanklin.

And where did you stay?

Do you recall checking in to a hotel every year? Perhaps the same hotel? Was it a traditional holiday B&B? A caravan, holiday home, chalet, tent?

We want you to share with us what you did, too... laze on the beach? Long walks? Exploring rock pools? How did you spend that time with mum and dad on your annual get-away? Did you get yourself a bucket and spade each year before you left Derbyshire?

What are your favourite holiday time memories as a child. Ice cream and candy floss are usually on the list of favourites... but maybe you had other treats on holiday.

They were, no doubt, special times and occasions so share your early holiday memories with us here.
