What's the name of your band and where do you come from?

We are 'In The Back Of The Real', a four-piece shoegaze/Post-Rock/Indie band from Derby. It features:

Jamie on guitar and vocals
Joe on guitar
Dom on drums
And either Jonny or Ben on bass (we're in a transitional period)

What do you sound like?

We've been told we sound like Mogwai, Mono, Snow Patrol, The Editors and My Bloody Valentine.

Both the guitars work together to create intricate melodies whilst the bass and the drums work together to create a powerful momentum.

Who are your influences?

Again, our influences would have to be Mogwai, My Bloody Valentine, Sigur Ros, Sonic Youth and Deftones.

Tell us about some of your best songs...

One of our best songs is called 'Life at 4Mph' and can be found on our MySpace site.

It only has a few lyrics but it's basically about taking a tongue-in-cheek look at a relationship where both parties can laugh at each other as well as themselves.

It starts off with a dark, brooding guitar part and builds up throughout the track into this wall of sounds that's really powerful. It's been said that this song could work in the context of a film.

Another of our best songs is called 'First Time At Sea Level' and this is about a relationship where the 'honeymoon' period is over and a couple are just entering an agonisingly boring routine.

This is a song that also builds up and becomes more and more powerful as it goes on. We tend to end our set with this song.

Where can people watch you play live?

We're playing upstairs at The Blessington Carriage on Tuesday, 14th October with My Psychoanalyst and it's free to get in.
