Interview: The 94-year-old skydiver

Meet May Limb, 94 years of age and about to take part in her first ever sky dive!

Most of us would think twice about attempting a sky-dive at any age, but how about giving it a go when you're well into your tenth decade?

That's exactly what May Limb will be doing when she takes part in her first ever sky dive at the grand old age of 94.

She's attempting the tandem jump on November 6th and is hoping to raise around 拢6,000 for the British Disabled Flying Association and the Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance.

The former dressmaker and receptionist will be accompanied by her friend Louise Scotter who suffers from muscular dystrophy.

May said: "I've also wanted to do something like this. I had considered abseiling but I don't think my legs would be up for it.

"I'd be lying if I said I wasn't nervous but hopefully when I jump I'll be strapped to a good-looking young man who I can take home with me!"

The great-grandmother, who says her previous most daring exploit was riding in a glider when she was 80, will be jumping from a height of up to 14,000 feet and could reach speeds of 120 mph during the free fall.

She said: "I imagine I'll be screaming all the way down although I'm going to be trying to keep my mouth shut because I've got to take my false-teeth out so I don't swallow them!"

You can listen to May and Louise talking to 大象传媒 Radio Derby's Shane O'Connor using the audio link above.
