Ed George's latest celebrity interview is with the king of tea-time chat, Richard Madeley. Having conquered daytime television with wife Judy Finnigan in the nineties, the pair found further success with a later slot on Channel Four and have recently launched a new tea-time programme on digital channel 'Watch'. Richard was in Derby to promote his new book 'Fathers & Sons' which traces back previous generations of Madeley men and examines the effect their different upbringings had on their attitude to fatherhood. He told 大象传媒 Radio Derby's Ed George he'd always been keen to give his own children as normal an upbringing as possible. He said: "Jack and Chloe were born into a family who were on the telly so to them it's not strange. "I don't think mine or Judy's heads have ever been turned. I know people think I'm arrogant but I'm really not and in fact Judy's one of the most modest people I know. "Working on television doesn't make you special and if you start to believe it does, it makes you a top loser." "As a father I've tried to emulate my own father in being warm, outgoing and open with my own feelings as well as asking about theirs. "Crucially I've aimed to be demonstrative, telling them I love then and rejecting the negative - there was never any question of me hitting or smacking them." You can listen to the interview in full using the audio link above - and listen to Ed George 1-4pm weekdays for more celebrity chat.last updated: 20/10/2008 at 13:52 You are in: Derby > People > Profiles > Interview: Richard Madeley |
