Trimorphous

Trimorphous say their talent lies in making music rather than inventing good band names! Take a listen to their demo track Pin and let them know what you think on our message boards.

Q: Tell us about the band...
A: We've been in and out of each other for many long years, but our current form was created in January 2005. We are built out of stormy couplings and ex-couplings, rather like Fleetwood Mac and ABBA.

Some of us met in nappies, some at school and some in the pub!

Q: Who's who in the band?
A: We all hail from Exeter. We are comprised of founding member Adam Bonner (bass, keyboards and programming), Joe Ings (guitars, keyboards, programming), Amelia Best (vocals, keyboards and programming) and Amy McGill (guitars, keyboards, programming).

Trimorphous - Adam and Joe

We have so much in common, like sharing the same age (22) and having a passion for very cheap, watery, supermarket wine. As you can tell our dislikes also include playing keyboards.

Q: Which three words best describe your music?
A: Guitars, sequencers, sweat!

Q: What's the name of the track you've chosen to demo and what's the story behind it?
A: The track is called Pin and has survived for four years and two band incarnations, so we must really like it!

The first demo of this track was assembled using nothing but everyday objects from the house and home, such as saucepans, matches and pieces of flint. But as our technology and production skills became more sophisticated we decided to record it.

This is the non-saucepan version.

Q: What do you think of the current music scene?
A: Everyone should feel lucky to be alive in a time when there is so much diversity in popular music, but it's strange that - at the same time - there still exists a disturbing undercurrent of conservatism, especially among the majors.

Q: What has been your most memorable gig and why?
A: Supporting Orbital's Phil Hartnoll at the Exeter Phoenix. Great crowd, amazing show, Phil was lovely and it all ended in tears (not at liberty to say why!).

Q: Whose records do you have in your collection? Who are you influenced by and who would you like to perform with?
A: Our record collections cover pretty much everyone - including Daphne and Celeste.

We tend not to think of our music in terms of influences, but others have suggested: Underworld, Smashing Pumpkins, Massive Attack, Morcheeba and even Rage Against The Machine.

Trimorphous

We're cheap and easy and would perform with anyone willing. Daphne and Celeste would be great.

Q: If you could have three guests to dinner (fictional or factual, dead or alive) who would you invite and why?
A: There are four of us, so we should really be able to invite one each. If that's so then we'd ask our mums! They'd be too polite to complain about our cooking.

Q: Complete the sentence; "When we become famous..."
A: ...we'll blow all our money on supermarket wine and end up hosting TV Top 100s while appearing in the "Where Are They Now?" column of Q magazine! Our accountants and lawyers will be loaded.
