Tony Gillham became inseparable from radio when, as a lad, he would spend hours听 tuning into crackly short wave broadcasts from around the world.

At this time it was just a hobby. Then along came the pirate radio stations in the 60s and everything changed! That was it!

Tony knew he had found his vocation. Still only in his early teens, he set about getting onto radio.

"My first stop was the local hospital radio station where I managed to get a weekly show reviewing all the new singles," he says.

"The show ran for eight years during which time I also set up my own cable station - broadcasting to the neighbours."

Following an apprenticeship in electronic engineering (which proved very useful in later years), Tony managed to get a job working as a DJ in Scandinavian night clubs.

From there he sent off tapes to the new commercial stations in the UK before returning to England in the mid 70s to join UBN - a radio station in a biscuit factory!!!

Eventually, after being spotted by a plugger from a record company, Tony was recommended to Radio Tees in Cleveland which was on the lookout for a new breakfast presenter. Tony got the job and he was on his way.

"Over the years I've broadcast on various commercial and 大象传媒 stations around the UK. In the mid 80s I regularly presented the early breakfast show on 大象传媒 Radio 2."

These days he produces many of his shows from his own broadcast studio at his home.

Off air, Tony likes to mess around with computers and spend time with his two children Layla and Anthony.

He lives with his partner Judy (who just loves the sounds coming out
of the studio - especially when it's Motown!), Prudence the cat and Connie the dog.

His 大象传媒 Radio Devon shows are produced from his personal collection of more than 5000 CDs which contain over 50,000 chart hits.
