Collect the stamps and get a special certificate. The Moors Way celebrated its 30th birthday in 2006 and to commemorate the anniversary, 大象传媒 Radio Devon reporters Liz Scott and Jo Bishop walked the 117 mile route and laid a special stamp trail. The ink stamps have been left at pubs, post offices and public buildings in 12 locations along the way. Future walkers will be able to stamp a special passport, collecting the individual stamps as they make their way along the path. Hundreds of people from all over the world enjoy the Two Moors Way every year. It's the oldest regional footpath in Devon and until recently it ran between Ivybridge and Lynmouth.听 The first certificate holders! Devon County Council has celebrated the 30th anniversary by officially extending the Two Moors Way to Wembury on the south coast, increasing the trail from 102 to 117 miles. Walkers enjoy the contrast of the sweeping wilderness of southern Dartmoor, the lush green countryside of Mid Devon and the descent from the lonely moorland of Exmoor to the north coast at Lynmouth. The footpath was the brainchild of the late Joe Turner. Joe was a Devon man who took up the challenge of creating a route that linked the two southernmost national parks through a series of footpaths. He worked tirelessly with his wife Pat to maintain the route.听Neither of them was paid for their efforts, which included walking it several times a year to keep it well maintained.听 Pat Turner is now handing on the mantle of maintenance and publicity to Devon County Council. There are views towards Avon Dam At the end of the marathon trek from the south to the north coast, Liz said: "One of the things which struck us most was the really kind people we met along the way. "And the scenery from start to finish was fantastic and contrasting."
