Imagine combining college with doing one of the most technical shifts in radio... That's what James Vickery did when he began working every Saturday on our sports coverage, taking commentary and reports from up to five different football and rugby grounds.

As a lifelong Exeter City fan, sport has always been in James' heart but it was pure luck that brought him into the Radio Devon studios.

"I emailed Richard Green who was sports editor asking if I could see how life was like in Radio doing sport," said James.

"A job came up and they asked me to come in and try out."

Thankfully James passed his trial with Radio Devon and became a staple in the studio on a Saturday, sacrificing his regular trips across the country and to St James Park.

It wasn't long before James also found himself on-air providing sports bulletins and keeping the county moving as a part of our travel team.

Now James has taken the next step to covering programmes, standing in on the Early Show while Danny Lawrence takes a break.
