It's been nominated for two awards at the Oska Bright Film Festival.
A group of novice film-makers from a Plymouth disability centre have been nominated for two awards following their first ever attempt at making an animated movie.听 The short animation, called Fish Supper, was created by trainees at the Plymouth Skills Development Centre for Adults with Physical and Learning Disabilities. The group came up with the storyline, composed and recorded the music and one by one took their turn at animating the fishy characters. Fish Supper has now been nominated for two awards at the 2007 Oska Bright Film Festival -听in the best animation category and best overall film. The film has a surprise ending The festival, now in its third year, is a showcase for short films made by people with learning disabilities. "We teach new skills to our service users from life and social skills to information technology," said Pat Murphy from the disability organisation Scope. "We took a group of them to the 'Oska Bright on the Road' festival last year in Exeter. After seeing the films, one or two of them thought they could make even better films. "The result was Fish Supper, our first attempt at animation. We've been told that to get two nominations for our debut film is a complete first."
