RaWYou are in: Devon > RaW > Setting books free Michael "Sherlock" Chequer Setting books free大象传媒 Radio Devon's Michael Chequer hit the road with the new RaW Swap Kit, giving away free reads to make their way around Devon. As part of the 大象传媒 Reading and Writing (RaW) campaign in 2008, we are promoting Swap Stations, where you can share around your favourite reads for others to enjoy. We kicked it off at Exeter St David's Station on 6 March, with our own Swap Station, manned by 大象传媒 Radio Devon's Michael Chequer, who presented the phone-in programme from the platform. Cruella DeVille helped out Dressed as one of Britain's best known literary figures, Sherlock Holmes, he spoke to local train-users about their favourite books and sent many happy Devonians on their way with a free read! He also took calls on air from people who had been inspired to share their best moments of reading pleasure or even return to them, including one call from David in far-off Sweden. David, an ex-patriot originally from Paignton, admitted he hadn't read enough over the last few years and the show had made him feel the need to run home and take up a book again. Now we hope it might give YOU the inspiration to get your own RaW Swap Kit for your workplace or local club. We'll send you everything you need to get all your friends and workmates sharing their best books and spreading the literary word. For a RaW Swaps Kit text SWAPS to 63399 or follow the link below.
