Getting onto the Big Screen

Calling animators, film-makers and photographers. The Plymouth Big Screen is ready to showcase film and video made in Devon. Find out how to submit your content.

The Big Screen in Plymouth city centre's Piazza is hungry for film and video content created in Devon to showcase to the thousands of people who pass by every day.

All submissions will be considered on merit, but the screen cannot show commercial advertisements, hard-hitting campaign led content or films that include music which hasn't had copyright clearance.

It's the job of Plymouth Big Screen producer Kevin Heathorn to sift through submissions and schedule all the local content.

He's delighted at the material which has already been submitted.

"Devon has a growing reputation as a hub of creativity in the visual arts," explained Kevin.

"I have already viewed some outstanding material with the promise of lots more to come.

"We are keen to show a wide range of content including material from schools and colleges, universities, amateur film-makers, film-making collectives, animators,听community听groups and photographers."

Submitting your work

The following PDF documents outline the Big Screen's editorial guidelines in more detail:

"We can accept material on mini-DV and DV-cam tape, DVDs and still images in jpeg format - but we cannot screen content built as a Powerpoint presentation," said Kevin.

"If people have an an idea for the Big Screen then we'd love to hear from them."

Big Screen Plymouth is a partnership between the 大象传媒, Plymouth City Council and the London Organising Committee for the Olympic Games (LOCOG). It's one in a network of 17 screens across the UK.
