Why
"Barefoot in the Garden"?
"All along the watchtower, princes kept the view, While all the women
came and went, barefoot servants, too." I guess you could say it
was Bob Dylan who inspired the name when Karen was learning the lyrics
to "All along the watchtower", she glanced down, saw the word
'Barefoot' and the rest, as they say, is history.
How
did the band form?
We've always done our own thing as individuals and Drew and Colin came
to see Karen when she was playing with her group Tapestry. A few visits
to the pub later and Barefoot was born.

Influences
from cajun blues to folk and jazz

Tell
me about "Hold me in your arms"
Tee wrote the original version about ten years ago but the lyrics were
a bit dark. We re-wrote it in its present form for a Children In Need
gig in 1997. It's a lot more optimistic now.
Complete
the sentence: "If we become famous..."
We could actually afford to live the way we already do!
What's
the gossip on the four members of "Barefoot in the Garden" then...?
Not sure if we should say really, Karen loves clothes and hates
wearing glasses...
Colin loves pubbing and his pet hate is closing time!
Tee's favourite TV programme is "Time Team" and
the love of Drew's life..... Steak and Kidney pudding -yummy!
Best and worst things about Devon?
You can't beat the scenery can you? But oh - the rain!!!
Three
words that best describe your music?
Harmony, folk, blues.
Musical heroes?
Karen - Bonnie Rait is great, Colin - Paul Simon. Tee is a fan of Frank
Zappa and for Drew it has to be Neil Young.
So when and where can we catch Barefoot?
We still play a lot individually but you can normally catch us jamming
together most Sunday nights at the Hole In The Wall in Torquay. Love to
see you there.
