Introducing
Too Hot from South Devon
Too
Hot....to handle?
Not really - it's the title of a song by Prince Buster which
was also covered by The Specials. We're a ska band based in South Devon,
playing a blend of original material, Jamaican ska and classic Two Tone.
Who's who in the band and what are their loves and hates?
Glyn Wilcox, lead vocals - he loves his mini and hates meat!
Rob Murphy beats out a mean rhythm on the drums, loves scooters and hates
"soap-dodgers".
Bass is looked after by Simpsons-loving Del Anning who reckons he hates
hair gel.
And "Spud" Strudwick is on lead guitar. His love is owing money
- his hate? Paying it back!
Tinkling
the ivories of the Hammond organ is Steve Gruitt - caffeine is his passion
and work his nemesis.
Phew how many of you are there for heaven's sake.....?
Nearly there - Keith Waller loves Vera Lynn (!) and hates birthdays (Keith
is the sax player in Too Hot.)
Jack B Nimble plays the trombone, loves Jill and hates hills (I'm
beginning to wish I hadn't asked now!) and
finally Paul Drew plays trumpet, loves fruit machines - and hates.....
fruit machines!
Give
me three words that best describe your music.
Hottest Sounds Around. Or, if you like, Offbeat, Uplifting and fun. Best
if you take a listen really.
What's
the best and worst thing about Devon?
We're all local lads (well two of us come from over the border in Cornwall)
and we love this area.
The only problem is it makes all our national gigs a long trek.
No prizes for guessing whose records you have in your collection?
Madness, The Specials, Prince Buster, Better Days, Skatalites.
And
why have you chosen to demo "Everyday"?
It's simply a rock-steady love song!
Aahh!
How romantic!
