Anyone read them?
I really liked Cider With Roadies, espcially the Napalm Death episode, very funny. Pies & Prejudice was very good too, mixing history with wit.
I have to confess I don't like his new one much, but 2/3 aint bad.
Yes I loved Cider with Roadies and being of pretty much the same vintage could certainly relate to SM's journey from prog obsession through punk/post-punk etc. May sound strange now but it could have been a pretty landmark book for the year zero punks who were perhaps inspired to go back and revisit those Gentle Giant LPs and are probably listening to FZ these days.
Didn't take to Pies as much as it didn't have music as the connecting thread (why should it?) that Cider had and haven't read the third one.
On a similar note relating to the ex NME high priests, Paul Morley's style is something you either love or hate but his Words and Music is full of FZ treasures. Worth the price just for the lists at the back.
Quite surprised by the absense of Deke Leonard's "Rhino's, Wino's and Lunatics". One of the funniest books I've ever read.
If we're going wider than Stuart's books, then Julian Cope's Head On/Repossessed is possibly my fave.

Just reading the Pies & Pred book at the moment and thoroughly enjoying it. Oh and Stuart, if you read this, how about a bit of Sun Dial on the next show. Arguably one of the most exciting UK psych bands about...
