And so - the time has come?

  I have heard that the two remaining message boards will close tomorrow at noon, 30th September 2011,
  
  This is a sad day for fans of 6Music in general, and of Gideon in particular, as the easy-going and whimsical exchanges here suit the character of 6Music particularly well because we, the listeners and licence-fee-payers, are directly in contact with the station with minimal third-party intervention.
  
  I hope the boards will remain up read-only as the "Inside 6Music" and "Steve Lamacq" boards have done - they are an invaluable source of information to me, sometimes posted by myself.
  
  So all the threads about pop telephones, cheeses and the like shall not grow longer. Cycling Club will have to snap up some carrier pigeons in advance of next year's Tour and Olympics, and if we are wondering what a piece of music was, we shall have to hope against hope that the Birmingham City Library Humline is still going.
  
  Thanks to the techies who have made the site work, thanks to Gid for taking an active part here (makes you feel he is a real person! lol - a strength of 6Music) and, above all, thanks to all the people I have swapped jokes and stories with here over the years, especially the ones who cannot now reply.
  
  6Music is more than a brand, it is a community delivering Reithian quality in the ´óÏó´«Ã½ for very little outlay.
  
  More, much more than this, these boards did it our way (all of us together) and helped to save 6Music.

  If it's a fact that they are closing with no notice whatsoever then that is unacceptable behaviour in the extreme.
  
  However I'm sure the rather civilised members of this board would be more than welcome over at another unrushed spot :
  
  
  
  Arrangements for refugees to have their own tent can be arranged pretty quickly !
  
  Btw it's open 24/7 and is significantly more flexible than these 'ere boreds.

  That's all genuinely very touching Tolhurst, but it's actually not true, there are no plans to close the boards tomorrow.
  
  No idea where you're picking up these rumours, perhaps you'd like to let us know?
  
  If we do decide to close them, we'll give you notice. But at the moment there are no plans to close them, and they will be open next week, until further notice.

  It didn't seem worth winding everyone up over there over nothing.
  
  I now hope that you go poke whoever 'told you' that it was closing at noon today, with a sharp stick or something.
