what, you went to see legends of wrestling in Barrow-on-Furness one afternoon in the late 80s? I hope you enjoyed it.

AFAIK there are few songs featuring wrestling (unlike boxing) - although the wrestlers have always been primarily showmen rather than primarily sportsmen. I remember when Big Daddy (RIP) so very nearly had a children's Saturday morning TV show and, when they were considering getting him an Equity card, he of course already had one!

Therefore the following are not genuine wrestling-related songs:

    Giant Haystakker Humanoid by Humanoid
Nagasaki Mon Amour by Ultravox (they have "Nagasaki under our coats" in Wide Boys)
Annie I'm Not Your Big Daddy by Dynamite Kid Creole and the Coconuts)
Jackie Palloma Blanca by Jonathan King

(I have just read that in the 1970s, wrestling was run by Big Daddy's brother, Max Crabtree) (Shame they weren't called Max Daddy and Daddy Max really!)

sorry meant late 70`s.forgot to mention worked in falklands 92 with his little bruv john only a mere 28 stone  We'll never see those classics of wrestling again.

whose little brother was that? 28 stone - how did he get to the Falklands without sinking the boat, or however did the Hercules take off?

Your wrestling-related thread is bang on time!

I note that there is a new record by Luke Haines, "Nine And A Half Psychedelic Meditations On British Wrestling Of The 1970s And Early '80s". "The record makes for an uproarious and melodically rich look at such grapple titans as Giant Haystacks and Kendo Nagasaki." says "thequietus".

The Giant Haystacks tune was on 6Music yesterday, I think.

Perhaps he was floated over to the Falklands on a giant haystack under the command of Lord Half Nelson.
