I notice in me new TV guide that 'Ambridge Extra' returns next Tuesday at 2.15pm. The first of 26.

I can't tell you how excited I am. I'm positively counting the days to see what rivetting storylines they have in store this time.

I wonder if we get a newer version of the delightful Steve and/or Chaz to delight us.

    I wait with baited breath.

    Well ... I don't actually.

I really like AmEx,and hope Tayler will be here shortly to tell us where we may post about it,as the last time, things didn't go too well.

    I'm looking forward to it.

<< hat has this got to do with tax, please? >>

Nothing whatsoever,TAX is a spin-off from The Archers aired on 4Extra.

Some call it TAX,I have to confess I can't remember why.
    I call it AmEx,shorthand for Ambridge Extra,give it a listen,its rather good.

As long as it doesn't slither into ML I don't care what they do with it.
It's about time there was a grown up episode on TA for starters before poncing about with even more juvenile goings on-unles of course they consign the odious James and Leoni to AmEx-now that WOULD be a result.

I'm surprised writers can think up extra storylines when the current Archer ones are sooooo dreary. Wouldn't it be better to get the main one's right first. If they have different writers for TAX they should sack the current ones and start again.
Lets have a "Bowmans" type clear out like Corrie and Emmerdale do from time to time

That is why I get so annoyed abouut it.
If TA was really sailing along well at present with fluent dialogue and intersting storylines then fine but it is not.
It is staid, dire, repetitive, half baked and dull most of the time so let's get it right first.
I wonder if we have anyone of the callibre to do it.

    The Ambridge Xtra.

If R4X is thus spelt, surely anything broadcast on it and using the word "extra" in its title should also have that word spelt with an X and no e?

AmEx means American Express in many circles.

TAX doesn't require up-case-down-case-up-case-down-case to write it.

And a tax on the original programme is what it is, as far as I can make out: resources that might have gone into making a decent fist of The Archers have instead been put into Ambridge Extra.

The onscreen episode guide for the first two episodes (won't do anymore but as it's the start, just curous how they start it off...) say.

In a new series of the Archers spin off, an old face is returning home and there's a new girl at school.

In the Archers's spin off, Susan's in for a shock and Erin's after a partner for a geography project.

So ... Susan's one of the oldies to appear in this one and who will be the school kids for Erin to mix with, (suppose it depends how old she is) and whose the old face returning home?

    Such exciting questions to ponder!

Can't pretend that I care very much whether Ambridge Xtra reappears or not. I listened last time, but not with much enthusiasm.

Thought the trailers for it on R4 Xtra were totally baffling, and took a while to figure out what they were actually for. If that is what the new series is going to be like, heaven help us!

    Yes,I do,I quite like it,so far.

However..................AmEx has it's own part of the MB,so perhaps you'd like to join us over there?

Discussing AmEx on here created quite a lot of problems last time,so Tayler gave us our own bit of the board so as not to spoil the story for those that don't want to or can't listen.

I HATE (and no apologies for shouting) the annoying tic of most of the 'dialogue' being in the form of the character's thoughts. Resorting to this sort of pretension in drama is usually a sign of a lack of substance in the basic material. A good script, decently acted and directed doesn't need such gimmicks.

And can't bear the Daniel storyline, don't believe in him or the girl he has a thing about. Wont be listening again.

wombatsnose when the Beeb stops cross trailing AmEx on Radio 4 and stops having TAs characters in AmEx and partially shared storylines with TAs in AmEx, I'll pretend to join in with the Alice in Wonderland world that says they are two separate programmes that we have to listen to as if we didn't know the other existed, and stop posting about it here.

Any 'problems' have been caused by those who decided to make this (not an) off shoot programme that only digital listeners can receive, not by us.

Fair enough, pollyanna,I was just pointing out that a separate area had been created for those that did not know about it.

It's not up to me to tell you where and when to post, you must do as you wish of course.

Fishy - My presumption is that the TA team got ADDITIONAL funding from the R4X budget.

polly - you will be glad to hear that I agree with you!

You can of course listen to Amex live on your TV or poota, or LA on the latter, which I do whilst visiting ML.
