Just how is he planning to move this "scrap metal"? He doesn't have even a pushbike as far as I can tell.

Or is he suddenly going to be allowed the use of the contractors truck?

I pondered that, too. He's gonna need a gert big vehicle and a camouflage net to fling over it and find an apprentice to help him schlep the stuff.

I don't know about that - but scrap metal is going missing all the time. There's a call on for a change in the law so that it's provenance can be checked before it's sold on. Apparently it's possible for a few notes to change hands and that is quite within the law

Dodgy scrap metal dealers are two a penny and if Clive doesn't know any his contact with the hooky plumbing gear is bound to. Quite possible that a vehicle could be borrowed with complete deniabiliy - 'no officer I didn't know it had been nicked until you told me. Had to leave it parked outside the yard last night' - to transport the stuff.

I've got no idea about how to knick scrap metal or what to do with it if I had. I did see an episode of The Apprentice where they were clearing out house junk but that's about it.

This year I redid my home and the builders showed me that they had found an unused meter from 1920'sish and all I said was what a beautiful piece of work it was and left it at that. If they had then gone and borrowed one of Boris Johnson's bicycle's and shlepped it to a /fence/or sommat, well good for them, it looked a heavy blighter.

Clive explicitly stated that he had got a vehicle - he just needed a place to put the stuff.

Why it cannot simply be driven to the scrap dealer's place was not explained.

IRL scrap dealers collect - and supply skips to sites.

If it's all legal and above board, they do. This is not.
