In that it wasn't Clive who removed the scrap from the lockup, rather Matt & Co.
The camera was just for show. I think. Can't quite work that bit out. Cos if it wasn't Clive caught on camera, wouldn't he kick up a bit more fuss proclaiming his innocence?
Anyway back to my hypothesis....
This from ermintrude's synopsis:-
Matt is with a friend, chuckling over the video. The friend says he’d better do the honours, and gives Matt £1100 – he got more for the scrap than he expected. [Guess who? Bernie! ] He says it’s just pocket money for Matt, but Matt says it was never about that.
I think Matt just wanted to get Clive out of Ambridge for his darlin' Pusscat and wasn't averse to making a few quid while at it.
Any of that make any sense?

I thought that was obvious, from the last eppie, and everything leading up to it.

This is what happened
Clive removed scrap from where it was stored in the old house and put it in lock-up. Unbeknown to him - this was captured on camera**
Matt or one of his deputies - Bernie? removed scrap from lockup to place unknown ..
**Though surely there would be enough evidence against Clive without this... The police didn't dig very deep did they when they assumed that all staff were well-known? A bit of digging would have uncovered Clive and his many questions to `Marv' (Non-criminal mate).
And they may have thought they'd got rid of Clive but he is not one to forgive enemies ...

Isn't Bernie the one who has been selling cut-price plumbing stuff to Clive, on Matt's recommendation? Or have I got myself totally confused?
Clive may have seemed like a regular worker if he had been with the contractors for the whole job, and came recommended by Matt himself.

That's him. Not so much "cut price" as "stolen to order"
Can't see Matt taking the risk for so little reward.
