I thought that the original idea of AmEx was to introduce new characters and develop storylines about the younger characters and silents (with the aim of attracting an alternative audience). This second series is largely about plots affecting exixting characters in TA such as Alistair, Shula, Matt, Lilian,TVOA, Usha etc. Surely these storylines should be in the main programme. If the scriptwriters feel that the original plan about new people did not grab the interest, then just admit the experiment has not worked and concentrate on writing for TA proper..

Personally,I happen to like AmEx and I'm hoping there is to be another series,as I said in series one,I hope it will be focused on SA and the Madikane clan.

We were told that AMex woul be about characters who don't feature regularly in TA and this clearly isn't the case. It now seems to be just additional episodes of the main programme and I really don't understand why there's a need for AMex at all. I hope this is the last series but if it isn't I hope the programme makers revert to the original concept of the show.

Clearly a pervy old vet thinking bad thoughts of a nubile teenager is supposed to attract a youth audience.

Personally, I think they will run a mile.

What "bad" thoughts do you accuse Al of?

Are you saying he is "pervy" for noticing that she is attractive?

Did I miss him fantasising putting his hand on her smooth thigh and ......(omitted as some pratt would catp) ?

I have enjoyed AmEx 2 but I do think the Alan SL is pants/ a dire filler.

Amex is a failure based on a lie. May no good come of it.

Amex is a failure based on a lie. May no good come of it.  The trouble is, another poster has remarked elsewhere, that nothing on AmEx is likely to affect the main storylines on TA.. AmEx is thus doomed to be three months going round in a circle.

From the first series nothing has remained. Alice has finished her degree and has left Southampton and her student buddies behind, all differences with Chris resolved. Jamie is apparently now hard at work at school, dodgy mates either dropped or chastened, and Natalie only occasionally mentioned in dispatches whenever Kathy can get a word in edgeways with Pat's ravings about Rich.

It doesn't seem likely that much of consequence will escape through the TA portal this time, either. Catherine will remain dead, Erin can't go to the New Year's Ball with Dan because the series ends two days beforehand, and Clive has blown forever any faint hopes of rehabilitation. What else is there left?

Both remaining plots are dull and have not suspended my disbelief; the only character not to have 'thought bubbles' is Erin, presumably because the SWs don't understand her either. As a doctor who is still in touch with some of his students from decades ago, I learnt early on to enjoy and respect them, and to leave it at that; one of them is God mother to my youngest son.. Although the plot is just about plausible it hasn't been well done; surely Al has staff at the Surgery and is used to animal mad girls wanting to help out. That tux is going to spend a lot of time in the wardrobe I think.

Erin might go to the ball with Dan after Al's visitor turns out to be her father apologising to Al for her overfamiliarity, which was why she had to change schools?

Yeh but not nearly as much time as Alistair will be spending in the spare room.

Woiuld that the SWs had the collective cojones to, instead, have Shula in a Mrs Robinson style relationship with one of Daniel's fellow sixth-formers!
