I agree, Jon. Absolutely cringeworthy and wrong. On so many levels! Al's age, professional standing, marriage and Erin is Dan's girlfriend, fgs! I just don't think it likely and dread the consequences.

It's going to be messy!
It all seems too unlikely doesn't it? But Al does have form for being an idiot, i.e. playing cards against Matt & Chalky, and ending up 100k down!

Quite, and how is this going to work in the grander scheme of TA? Will we be subject to slurpings over there, too? Ghastly and stupid.

I don't think that Dan is really Erins' boyfriend, whatever Shula may think is implied by their going to the ball together.
I can't imagine why Erin is attracted to Alistair, beyond his being able to help her in her wish to be a vet. I can't remember anyone remarking that he is attractive, and he doesn't come across as having a sparkling personality to me. Maybe its the being kind to animals thing?
Erin is a stereotype "bad girl". Very one dimensional.

I think it is established that she wants a father figure, but is confusing the boundaries of that role?

In an earlier episode we heard that her mother's partner is away a lot; that sort of stuff.

If we were going to go down that line, maybe her relationship with her stepfather has been inappropriate, hence her lack of boundaries?
Or her actual father?
Think we're being set up for an "ishoos" debate, as we are with the Alan SL.

I'd popped my nos around the door here last week and had picked up the info about Alistair and the snogging incident. Not being an AmEx listener, I thought I would give it a go with the omnibus edition this evening.
Ye gods, it is DIRE! YUK AND DOUBLE YUK!
All that "thought bubble" stuff was excruciating.
And the Alistair plot was indeed like some sad bloke's fantasy porno stuff.
HORRIBLE. KILL IT NOW.
I don't think I'll be back.
