  A Christmas dish served very late and cold.
  
  Catherine had a rotten life - long term racially bullied and for some reason having such a poor relationship with her mother that she never told her. Punished and locked up for stabbing. No defence in court. Then later she marries and still cant share any of this with her husband and then dies while her daughter is still young.
  
  I hope Alan locates the perpretator of the abuse and makes sure she has a ruined Chrstmas.
  
  I suggest he pops round to her house and steals all her mince pies.
