prissy
sanctimonious
tight-asred
joyless
pushy
feel free to add more
Gave me a bit of a flashback, there, Jon!
"Lippursin' nosepokin' faceachin' moralisin' badmouthin' sermonisin' highhanded fastcondemnin' griefgivin' criticisin' Shula!"
(This will probably mean /nothing/ to anyone under about 45! As will "45", come to think of it…)
Oh - and Kenton /surely/ models himself on the Cresta Bear…
double snork Joe!
/Double/ snork? I'm honoured!
…though that really /would/ be frothy, man!

< Describe Shula in one word >
Priggish (A person who demonstrates an exaggerated conformity or propriety, especially in an irritatingly arrogant or smug manner; a description that applies to many of the Archer family.)
>Priggish<
nice one!
Compared to Pat, Helen, Elizabeth, Kathy, Ruth, Lynda, Susan and Vicky she is a pillar of common sense.

Objurgatory.
The word might have been coined for her.
>Objurgatory<
perfect, and a new word for me thanks OI
Annoying as Shula can be at times, where Alastair is concerned, she's had her fair share of trouble. So, although he was right to confess all to her, he'd have been better advised to have done so as soon as Erin made her move, and I can't blame Shula for her reaction.
She's over-protective of Daniel, but she's dealt well with the aftermath of Nigel's death, and has done her best to heal the rift between David and Lizzie.
It's odd how a character with principles is so disliked. Perhaps deep down many listeners prefer the me!me! me! types, of whom there are many in TA.
Yes I'm sure that some people dislike Shula because of her faith and principles. But I think she's been a good wife to Alistair, a good sister to David, Kenton and Lizzard and a good friend to Caroline. She also suffered disgusting bullying and abuse from Usha, which she survived with good grace and dignity and didn't sink to Usha's level.

Agreed, he made a rod for his own back by delaying it. Would have much better to mention it, and laugh it off, right at the start, but where's the 'drama' in that?
>listeners prefer the me!me! me! types<
Like Helen? Nooooo!

Surely in swiving with her friend's partner she had already sunk far BELOW Usha's level?

Late.
After Alistair finally grows a pair and arranges for her to do a commemorative Nigel off the roof of Loxley "Towers," falling all 26 floors ro the ground beneath.
Yes... I know it's unlikely, but one can but hope.

Yes, but some of us knew Shula before she was a virgin.
Does her cold shoulder attitude with Alistair help resolve the situation. If the worst comes to the worst and Erin cries rape then he's going to need all the help he can get . His wife's holier than thou (and thou and thou and thou and thou and thou and thou) attitude at all times) is grating at the best of times.
Shula would have preferred to have been a 'goodwife' in Puritan times as that the way she behaves.

Unfair! In India, Usha would be sacred... As would several of the Ambridge females.

Shula is the eternal virgin. If TA had been made into a 1950s/60s Hollywood film, Shula would have been played by Doris Day.

But Shula doesn't pretend to be anything she is not ..
And Erin is very young - and Dan's girl to boot (or so they thought ..)
I think Alistair could have been prosecuted if anything *had* gone on - he was her mentor after all - not exactly a teacher but it's a moot point

AFAIK there was no formal mentoring arrangement so I doubt Al was in a "position of trust"
