I'm afraid I can't agree, erms. I think this one has been better than the first one, I didn't even go the full distance on that. It started promisingly and the Matt/Clive story was good all the way through but the other two were quite frankly ludicrous.
I've come to the conclusion that the whole concept is flawed, and the flaw is that AmX has to be self contained both from TA and because each one is a finite series.
That might work if you just listened to AmX but if you listen to TA as well it's impossible. You have a right to expect the AmX stories to spill over and when they don't you feel cheated. And you know the life of the characters doesn't come to an end when the series ends but you are expected to believe that the AmX story is done and dusted with no later repecussions. It just doesn't work for me.

AmEx will continue.
The only question is whether it will be broadcast.
Good one, OI!

This is the sticking point for me too Reggie. Some of the stuff that has featured in AmEx has to have some significance over on TA.
How come the Horribins didn't hear about the accident? The way Susan is on about her family at the moment how would she not care? Or at least discuss it with Tracey?
And although on TA we don't need to know about Dan's first girlfriend and how she was a wrongun, the fact that Alister "passionately kissed another woman" (as they say on Jeremy Kyle) suly has some implications for his and Shulas marriage, if not now then further down the line?
I didn't get on with the first series and the bluddy thought bubbles annoy me but I have persevered this time and now I feel I might have missed significant background by not listening to the first series.
For example my opinion of Amy has changed since hearing her on AmEx.
Marms
Amy has become a three dimensional character for me now and I would like to hear more about her.

Exactly!
But she's just a passing mention to folk who just listen to TA. And what about this Catherine revelation? Thanks to that the Alan we know on AmEx is a different Alan to the one on TA.
Marms
That is perhaps true of Amy, but Alice was ruined for me in the first series. I loathed what they did to her there, making her into such a naive and silly airhead.
Great series, I enjoy it more than TA sometimes. I'm wondering who The Very Bad Person will be next time! First season it was Chas (boo, hiss!), this time there were TWO: Clive and Erin. How will they top that? And who will it (they?) be?
I'm betting on the caregiver's recently out-of-prison husband! Hmmm, I wonder if he knows Clive? And will Matt have to sort it out again in another battle between "medium evil" and "very evil?"
