This Milton. How old he is? It's hard to tell, the way he talks, but he sounds a hell of a lot older than 14!
In fact, confusingly, he sounds like Lucas!
It must be someone else she has the crush on.
Blimey, will Hayley and Roy recognise this Pheebs, the way she talks?
I coudn't fathom the crush bit. If he hadn't said that she had gone red, and it was in the precis for the episode, I wouldn't have had any idea that she liked him. She seemed keen enough to run off to Mandisa. I thought that she was scared of him, actually.

She kissed him on the cheek, though, did she? it was the other bloke she was scared of, wasn't it?
The trouble with them all sounding the same!
I need to re-LA to untangle it all, but another girl was mentioned who is at college and who seemed to be attached (or at least semi-detatched) to Milton. Pheobe said she thought that Milton was the same age as the other girl (i.e. 18) but her tone of voice implied that really she thought he was older.

Didn't she say something along the lines of referring to Milton as 'an older boy' - I can't remember in what context now, but she definitely referred to him as that cos I remember thinking 'boy'! He sounds easily in his 20's.
But then again it's confusing cos he didn't sound a lot different to Lucas whose nearly 40 or the menacing man who could be any age!
It's very difficult on radio when you have three men using the same foreign accent and with the same way of speaking and the same deepish voices!
I think that she asked Milton to drop her off round the corner because Lucas wouldn't approve of her getting a lift from an older boy.

That's it, yes.
And to me he sounds like someone well in his 20's.
But as I said, all these similar voices, it's very confusing!

Indeed. But surely he would have favoured a lift from the known brother of a friend to walking the urban/suburban streets?
Presumably the high walls, razor wire, gates, armed patrols, etc. are not for fun?
The only Milton I know is Milton Jones. Perhaps she fancies him because of his one line gags
"About a month before he died, my grandfather, we covered his back full of lard – after that he went downhill very quickly."
And one for Lynda "The pollen count, now that’s a difficult job. Especially if you’ve got hay fever."
And another for Lynda "So I phoned up the spiritual leader of
Tibet, he sent me a large goat with a long neck, turns out I phoned dial a lama."
Back to the plot - as before, nothing of any interest can happen without it impacting on TA, so its all pointless.

Why?
I quite like the "viewed from two sides".
eg When Pebble wants to stay in SA.
Did they ever finish the Skype interrupted by Lucas's call?
I wondered whether the crush was actually on Nkose, the girl who is 18 and may or may not be Milton's girfrield, Pheobe said something like "She is cool and sophisticated and I want to be like her when I'm 18."

Pat I don't think we will get a sapphic story based in South Africa.
But didn't she go red when Milton offered her a lift?
And didn't she give him a kiss? I thought that that was a bit surprising. Do 14 year olds usually kiss 18 year olds goodbye?

Depends if they wish to send a clear message.

He's going out with Mandesa's older sister, Mkosi, i believe - so I'm figuring him for a similar or slighter older age as her - my guess is that he's in the region of 18 to 20.
Though I do wonder why Mandesa is encouraging her. Either she really, really thinks it would be fun for Pheebs to stay around for longer and go on the trip, or she hates her sister and would like to make trouble with her boyfriend!
Or quite possibly both. Perhaps devilment rather than hatred, though.
I thought that Milton was the stuff you used to sterilise babies' bottles.
Or for some of us, all we can think of is "Milton, Milton, Milton, Milton, Jo-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-ones."

I think this one more likely to be in honour of Milton Obote
Perhaps Mandisa thinks that the only chance of her getting to go is if she has a friend of her own age with her?
