...that I was a little mean with my reducing the margins for the blockquote as it's a tad difficult to differentiate quoted posts in the resulting display.. and the page ended up looking a bit messy.

To this end, I have updated the script to use 16 pixel left/right margins on the blockquotes.. which is still a hell of a lot less than the beeb's original 40 but much less mean than I'd previously adjusted it to (4 pixels).

Anyone who uses the script and wants the changes will need to uninstall the script ([Tools]-->Manage User Scripts... Uninstall) then re-install from my original instruction page:

(which Bex thinks is too verbose, but hey! :·) )

or just re-install it directly from this link (hopefully):

The script still needs tweaking as it has some odd effects in places that I am not happy about and I had always intended to spend more time tweaking it before releasing/announcing generally.. but my hand was forced. Hey ho.

Thanks jont! First version was a VAST improvement - so much more comfortable to read. I can see that this has the edge (no pun intended) aesthetically, though probably only you noticed any problem. As an ex-programmer I know the perfectionist mind-set, but as a user, if the tool works you don't notice it.

Thanks for going to all this effort, there's a drink at the bar for you next time your up there.

    Thanks Annie.

In my first attempt I went hard on everything to gain as much real-estate as possible.. it was really only while discussing the results with Bex that I realised how difficult it was to make out the quoted posts.. so took a look again.. with aesthetics more to the fore in my mind. As I said earlier.. there's still tweaking to do.. and I had hoped to get some feedback from a select few before 'going public'.

But hell.. I'm glad a few people appreciate the efforts. Though, having said that, the much simpler method of disabling styles altogether does have its merits and probably followers.

Currently I'm wracking my brain wondering whether there's a way of emulating/simulating time-order view. Looks tricky.. if not impossible.
