Just starting this off (as Mike's thread seemed more as a suggestion of doing this). Hope it brings back some semblance of something or other.
Good for you, Bunny. I'm sorry to see people already disappearing - and we haven't made it through the first 24 hours! This idea on one BIG thread each day could at least help the flow. At least we could give it a good try. If people don't make the effort to tweak the present system (and thanks to Peet and Jont here for the efforts they are putting in), then we shall /all/ be the losers.
LATEST MESSAGES
Another things we could do is to post a nominal thread title here; then it could really look like latest messages in the old TB.
Ridiculous, of course, that we should have to do this at all.
I agree, Bette!
And if we can get the 'email me' button restored, this'll really help too, as you can be chuntering away in a specific thread elsewhere, be alerted that you've had a reply in the 'Chunter' thread, zip over there and catch up, then return to posting Deep Thorts on the slower thread.

LATEST MESSAGES
and maybe a sub-division?
Just trying this to see what it might look like.
replying to Bette no. 5
I just put LATEST MESSAGES at the top to indicate a thread title -- in fact, of course, there should be subthreads, just as in the old latest messages. Just no one has started one yet. Someone start a thread about something (maybe I will, hold on).
Let's see, Bette - you mean something like this?
LATEST MESSAGES
sub-division #1 IT'S RAINING OVER HERE IN ANTWERP
And as luck would have it, Bulb 2 & 3 are at home for the day...
:S Katy
Howzat, Bunny & Bette?
THREAD TITLE: WHAT DO YOU WANT TO BE WHEN YOU GROW UP?
less tired.
ps: sadly, no mayo within the LATEST MESSAGES thread, but it will at least give us some semblance of the old place.

It's been raining here but sun is out (for a while). More rain on the way though. I don't mind, I'm indoors and we need as much water as we can get in our reservoirs (apparently)

Pretty yucky here too.
Not too scintillating, but this is a test; this is only a test. Do not pass go. Do not collect $200.
(The first bit probably means nothing to non-Americans; never mind! It's what they said when testing the warning system on tv for a nuclear attack, back in the old days...)

Here too, Katy! Still, good for the garden.
I haven't got the hang of indentation within messages yet. Have you?
Oh, hang on. Perhaps that needs another sub-title:

Leggsy, you need to give the thread title.
Also, no need to say LATEST MESSAGES: we are already within that thread!

It's been raining here, but now it's just very grey with more rain forecast.
L's school was shut yesterday, but at least it was a dry day.

even though I don't live in Antwerp! Doesn't quoting the message you are replying to negate the need to do that?
All these new 'rules'!
Yeah - pretty miserable in Amsterdam too. Mind you, it's the first rain we've had in ages, so not too bad. And at least it's a bit warmer - I had to resort to gloves yesterday on my bike.

More on the way for you continental types, if the ´óÏó´«Ã½ weather forecast thingy is to be believed. It's all down to the anticyclone over us at the moment.
Lovely lovely isobars!

Pretty grim here in the south midlands too. Drizzling quietly now. (Where is Marms when you need her?) Just been out riding and got wet as it wasn't raining when I left. Oh well it's an excuse to binge on hot chocolate.

I see over in DA that a post is being withheld by the modders. As the previous posts were in various languages, I wonder if they are /still/ having problems accepting this?

I've just had a look and there are masses of removed posts - looks like the mods are in overdrive.
It's pouring with rain here in Oxfordshire, BTW. And cold.

Raining In Antwerp*
Katy, Edinburgh today is the most autumnal day this autumn yet - I woke early and lay gazing out at rain and dark lowering skies, feeling happy inside because I like such weather. then I dressed all cosily and wamrly and then at breakfast spilled dark red very-staining jam down my best tweed skirt so had to stand around semi-warm dabbing frantically with cold water at the sploggles!
so now i'm at work (in linen skirt, not wool!) (but unstained) and the world outside my window is grey and dark and although not raining it is threatening rain. the gutters are filling with leaves of gold and russet and bronze and the students scurry across the square, and finally their midriffs are covered!!!

RAINING IN ANTWERP
I really have to get some work done, something that this MB does not allow (the constant clicking and jumping are too frenetic). So see y'all later (I mean that literally: not as MEM does! I will be back later).
Actually I'll probably be back sooner rather than later.

all this it is ah raining not here also stuff makess me wonder whether I've wandered into a Tony Hancock scene (from the Radio Ham) or a 1980's spy thriller.
How perceptive.
IT IS RAINING IN ANTWERP actually means "the microfilm is hidden in a disused warehouse on the outskirts of Moscow."
