I was off work for a few days a while ago with a heavy cold and was describing the symptoms to my boss (well she did ask honestly) and she said 'oh that sounds like 'flu'. I said 'No. It was a cold'. Now she has just said 'I think I'm getting that 'flu you had'.
It is so irritating when people do that - over dramatise a quite normal ailment. I've had flu a couple of times in my life and there really is the world of difference between that and a cold. Rather like when people say they have a migraine when they have a headache.
She will be down to the doctor's next demanding some medication.

She'll be disappointed, then. You can't get up, let alone get to a Dr, if you have flu.
Flu is a virus - no treatment (antibiotic-type) available.
That's just it. It isn't flu. She just thinks it sounds better than saying 'I'm getting a cold'. Flu is more dramatic.

And that's another thing about this bird flu. How come it's only the birds who are susceptible and not the blokes? Don't we women have enough to contend with anyway? IG
I'm going down with it. Very snotty today and now beginning the aches.
Definitely a cold though. First one I've had for ages.
PS I like the instructions for idiots on this board. "To create paragraphs, just press Return on your keyboard when needed" Really, never would have thought of that!

Oh, I positively HATE that too. It's not 'FLU - you can be hospitalised for flu. It's a cold.
I got 'flu for the first time about 7 years ago and OH.. the aching muscles. I felt as weak as a kitten for two days, incapable of moving or doing anything.
Oh.. and the Germans.. if you have a cough.. you have 'a Bronchitis'. It's a bluddy COUGH.

Definition of flu ~
if you have a cold and see a £10 note blowing in the garden you will muster enough energy to retrieve it. If you have flu you don't!
unless its 'man flu'!.......
