jont's test thread
Is the test thread sewing? jont's test threadÂ
Testing testing 1 2 3...
Is the test thread sewing?Â
There was the knitting thread earlier. Or was that yarn?
Wot are you doing, jonty? The message boxes in this thread have gone all narrow again, like they were before I did your Fireox-thingy.
:O Katy
[hugs][hope you are well]
Hi Jont!
Scrub that, they're back to normal...
Katy
Hi bunny!
:D Katy
[thinks][is it safe to play in an experimental thread][KABOOM]
Hi Katy.. doing some development..
Sorry about the boxes going narrow.. that is an unfortunate consequence of the script you have installed.. basically it 'unfixes' the width of all columns.. thus allowing them to stretch as wide as they need (and you *like* that bit). The unfortunate downside is that, because they stretch to be as wide as the need, they will also be narrow when all posts are really short. You made it wide again with your reasonably sized sentence.. this is the most likely scenario.
Back to development now..
Hope you are well, btw.

Hi Bunny.. hope you are well too.
Must get on!
jont {;¬· >···{
I've also noticed that (at least sometimes).. my column unfixing code doesn't *seem* to run when you are forwarded to the thread after making a post (at least from a separate tab. Hmmm... hey ho.

The bomb has not detonated, please remain in your trenches.
Oh I see! I've noticed that, and wondered if I as doing something wrong! I must say, reading posts in wide boxes that fill the screen has made a huge difference to me.
All well here, I won't keep you as your busy, so no need to reply.
Take care,
Katy
..but a refresh will reformat.
Never mind.
another test post
Hello, Michael!

Thank you, I did post sometimes as Michael A. Kearsley, but more I've posted on the Today Boards, Radio 5 Live News Boards and Sonia Deol and Write Here Right Now Boards on the ´óÏó´«Ã½ Asian Network.
Not bothered at the moment.. but I'm pretty sure I might need/want a thread to myself in later development.. so I'll start another with a polite request to be left alone(*)
(* Not that I need to request that, in /my/ life)
Thanks for asking, Katy.

You actually achieving anything?
Hullo Jont. Thinking of you. I spend my time at Peet's place now. It is much nicer I think. Just to let you know where to find me if you wish to say hello online.
Be peace, (colour green here) Prabhakari.

I'm getting there... s-l-o-w-l-y..
..and as you can see by the "[-timestamp will go in here-]" at the top I'm not quite finished.
I'm on a steep learning curve here.. and it's very slippery.

Hiya Prab.
I hope you are well.
Glad you've found a home at Peet's place.
I'm mucking about here.. seeing if I can improve things just a little.. even if I end up not posting here much. C'est la vie.
Keep well.

Katy (and anyone else who uses my 'liberator' script).. I have made some further /slight/ aesthetic and functional improvements(*) to the original 'Liberator' script. I would recommend you update the one you have installed by following the instructions specified in an earlier thread: [
(* There are still problems, both aesthetic and functional.. and I shall no doubt continue to 'tinker' with that script. Meanwhile I've been working on one or two other scripts).
jont {;¬· >···{
Hi Jont, have installed the latest Liberator script. RMB and Install script... works fine, by the way.
It looks as though your automated, time-stamped header is not too far off completion. Keep up the good work and many thanks for making these pages usable.

Thanks Rural.
This isn't the solution I was hoping for but until I find a workaround to a particular technical problem I'm having it might just have to do. Dammit.

I'm doing ok, thanks Pippa.

Comments on my header format welcomed.

Yes I am doing well, thanks Jont - just been busy recently.
- oh heck I will have to read the whole thread!! Was just popping in before I went to bed, saw your name and dived it to say 'Hi'! Will try to look at it properly tomorrow.
Pippa x
Fine thanks Jont - don't even want to ask what you are trying to do as sure I wouldn't understand - but I'm sure people appreciate all the time you are spending on it.

How do you do that, jont? Do you have to type it every time, or ihere a way of automating it?
I've installed grease monkey and your script - huge improvement. Thank-you.

No need to resd the whole thread, Pippa! I'm just talking about the top line of my posts, which is automatically generated.
So sure if it'll be of any use to people.
Keep well.

It's automated, your ladyship.
I'm still not happy with the mechanism.. but it might just have to do.

Jont I installed your grease monkey doodah too, it's much better thanks (only the original fix up to now).
Does the time stamp rely on the correct time being on the computer? /blush/

Glad you like it.. I do hope you have updated your script according to the instructions further up.
If you want to try out this autostamp script then right-mouse on the following link and select 'install user script'. Let me know what you think.. and any problems/improvements.

Yes, Deekay. But is converted to GMT.. so will also rely on your timezone/daylight-saving-setting being correct too.
I haven't found a way of getting 'server time' so have to rely on local-computer time.
Also, at the moment, the scripy inserts the timestamp when you start to compose rather than when you actually post. This is the bit I am not happy with.

I certainly find it a great help to know who is replying to who - easily confused bear in this corner!
