" One-handled adulterer"
no idea without googling i'm afrad rose geranium. are you a new rose?
I googled. I've never read it, so I don't feel bad about not going.
Okay, longer I stay up, the less likely it is I will be on the earlier train on my way to Cambridge. So I am going. Good night!

not going = not knowing
Always start getting words confused when I'm tired. Bed!
But is it true, Rose?

No, I'm Horatia, haven't got round to changing my nickname yet. Actually I'm now Auld Rose, since I turned 50 a few days ago.... no idea without googling i'm afrad rose geranium. are you a new rose?Ìý

A quick google later - a comment made by James Joyce in reference to Admiral Lord Nelson - provoked by Joyce's dislike of Nelson's Column in Dublin it would seem.

It was in my last or last but one term at Trinity Dublin that it got truncated by, I think, and ex IRA man. Nelson's Pillar (as I think it used to be called) was shorter, but I thought more elegant than his Column. O'Connel Street was like a street party for a while till the army came in to finish the job, got the amount of explosive way wrong and made an appalling mess! Joyce would have been amused. Night all, P

Repeat after me "Fifty is not old. I'm still young and the best is yet to come." Got that? Good. Now get out there and start living it.
I've long forgotten my 50th birthday, but since then I've been having the best time of my life. It's great.

Hello, Peter, lovely to see you here. It was March 1966, just before the 1916 commemorations. There have been a few news articles here over the past few days about it, presumably because of all the 1805 commemorations!

<> Hi Eilis. I'd got the 1966 OK, but I couldn't remember if they got the job done by Easter or not. Who was it whose statue got blown up in Phoenix Park? D'you know that one............. it was ages ago I think. P
