How long does it take for them to elect their leader?
It's not even that long for a general election...generally!
I don't know if I can stand it.

We may not have see last message, we may not have e-mail me etc etc
but we still have that feeling of total and utter dejection when no-one responds to your post.

Sob no more, GR !
I was *just about* to post, when you interrupted, that:
- At least you don't have to actually *do* anything about it (unless you are a Tory constituency grandee); and
- As my dad once said, in another context: "I can't wait for the result - in fact, I don't think I will".
After you with the merlot.

Morty - my Vicar in shining dog collar!
The feeling of Oh Goodness more pointless speculation and hypothetical questioning overwhelmed me yesterday during a particularly tiresome Today item.
As you so correctly spotted ...I am not a Tory grandee - but it's still forced upon us. I have come to the conclusion that hacks love an elecetion, any kind of election it gives them some focus.
Dead Ringers has got it spot on.
You are a love and an angel for replying...salty merlot is just awful.
Have a slurp.
Yrs GR xx
I wasn't going to say anything, being a guest + not wanting to be mistaken for someone who thinks he knows about wine, but: among the plonky stuff I buy, I've always thought merlot to be the most ordinary variety - and that's sans salt.

Actually this merlot isn't too bad.
Soft and fruity with a hint of spice.

Salty Merlot? Didn't he used to ship out of Portsmouth? Little fella with a red beard, if I remember correctly. MT
Please don't cry into your glass any more - I've not long been back from the Cambridge meet and no chance to post anything earlier!
Yes 6 weeks is an awfully long time - and the sad thing (excuse me airing my views) is that when the Tories finally get it together there's no guarantee they will be much further right than our existing leading party!
Don't you find that when discussing major issues with friends, usually you/we find we could sort it all out SO much better?!
If Merlot isn't your favourite, how about Bardolino? Been there, and it's a nice place as well as a nice wine.
:o)

Oh no MT you are mistaking him for Salty Shiraz - a very different kind of old tar.

Thanks for replying Scheherezade - trust you had a lovely time at the meet.
Six weeks seems overlong - election fatigue is bound to set in.
I'd love a small sip of some Bardolino. I hate to admit it but I've never even heard of it before.
Cheers GR xx

Salty Shiraz? Dark skinned chap with a pock marked face, earrings and a large tattoo of Marmelade Drizzle on his backside? Never heard of him.
Any relation to Mustafa Nutha? Don't mind if I do. MT

That's the one. Of course Ms Drizzle has tried very hard to keep him all to herself....

Ha ha, Tir! Or should I say, my friend Flicka ?(winks as good as a nod to a dead horse) (what on earth does that mean?).
Anyway, off now as for the last three weekends I have written 'Clean Oven or Else' on the calendar and as there is still no sign of Else I'd better get the rubber gloves on myself. Saturday night, eh? Will this pleasure never end.
Can't even have a drink as I'm on taxi duty later. Mutter, mutter, self pity, moan.... MT
