Poor you, Emerald. Have a cyber drink on me. Did you have any notice that you were going to be made redundant? If you have any concerns about the way in which it was done, you might want to talk to a solicitor, or, failing that, the CAB to see if you have any possible legal redress. Let me know if you'd like any more information.

In the mean time, good luck with the job hunt.

    Claribel

I have been with them for only a year and they have given me 5 weeks notice so I still have a job till late November. I don't think I am entitled to anything else. Everybody is pretty upset just hope I find something soon I can not manage with out working, too many bills!!! going on holiday in a couple of weeks which I wish I had not booked now!

Oh Emerald,I'm so sorry to read this. It's so hard,I know, and harder still to believe it's all going to be fine, but you have to.

When I was buying my cats' food with my laundry coins,it seemed impossible that it was ever going to get better.Don't feel much like going into detail here as I still feel very exposed (sorry if that sounds irrational)but I went through one of the toughest times of my adult life when I honestly couldn't SEE a horizon, but I believed there was one if I just kept on keeping on.

I hope this doesn't come across as trite, but I do know how you feel, and as a freelancer,I feel like this often enough.

Hang on in there and have faith in yourself

    Best wishes and good vibes,Basia

I think you're probably right legally, Emerald. Although you wish you hadn't booked your holiday, I'm sure it will be the best thing for you. At least you'll get the chance to get away from home for a bit, relax as much as you can and take your mind off the problems at work. Where are you going?

Thanks Basia, I am thinking that if I can not find a permenant position in time I may try some contract work to bide me over doing some looking into how you sort out tax and VAT ect. That way I would get some income.I will try and stay positive and focused its just I feel a bit shell shocked at the moment, I surpose I should be glad this is the first time it has happened to me, I was with another company a few years back but saw the writting on the wall and got out before it collapsed

I'm so sorry to read this, Emerald. I remember how absolutely terrified I felt at first when OH was made redundant a couple of years ago!

Take care, and fingers crossed that you'll find something soon. And do enjoy your holiday as much as you can!

    smiley - winkeye Katy
