I am on broadband and have good virus detection software and 'spyware' detection software. Before using these DNA boards my 'spyware' detected few infections and those it did were usually 'low risk'; however since registering with these Boards the spyware is detecting many more infections, and worryingly many of these are in the 'high risk' and even 'elevated risk' categories. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this, or is it pure co-incidence? Am I suffering with big brother phobia? Any advice/reassurance would be much appreciated.

I haven't noticed any increase in virus warnings from my firewall this week.
Thank you Tabby. I might be wrong but I have a feeling firewalls do not necessarily stop Spyware attaching itself - it gets past mine and does not show up on on my up to date Norton virus protection checks either, its only found by the programme specifically installed as Spyware protection. Oh well, nevermind, must just be me then.

Ah!
I'd better check that then. Thanks.

It may depend upon how your spyware is configured. Mine's pretty tight.
I have more than one spyware detector, too. The microsoft one (which is very good) and spysweeper. Most of the 'spyware' that gets picked up now is/are cookies. Haven't had a programme/dialler/trojan/keylogger for ages.

I'll had very few spyware and adware reports since I installed the latest version of the ZoneAlarm firewall, which has an antispyware filter.
I actually get a green "free from infection" tick from Spybot

Thanks everyone. It is cookies that I am getting rather than viruses as such, - my virus protection seems to deal with those fine, but they are nasty cookies apparently. I will go and have another look at how my spyware is configured. Thanks again.
