Ok, my dears - the long-awaited reorganisation of the CD collection has begun and they're all in piles on the sitting-room floor, sorted by letter (artist's last name). 25 piles - one for each letter of the alphabet except Q. Apparently I own no CDs by anything that begins with Q. (Proud? You BET I am.)
But the challenge is to guess which is the highest pile. ie - Which letter of the alphabet is best represented at Aminam Towers?
The answer surprised me. The person who guesses (and makes a decent stab at explanation) gets a whole magnum of CyberKrug.

Got to be B. Bach, Beethoven & Brahms should take care of it.

Disappointend to hear you have no Queens of the Stone Age albums.
I've no idea why the 'C' pile is highest, but I know it is.
Nope! The classics have - to my surprise - taken a back seat. "Something else is working harder" (cue Golden Palominos . . )

Does beatles come under 'B' or 'T' (for 'The')?
Is Bob Dylan 'b' or 'd' ?
I think we should be told!
[My cds fit in the box
left. right and centre!
If you do it in 'strict' albhabetical order, 'T'. Lots od The .......
Why haven't you got anything by Queen? Q would be one of my biggest stacks.

maybe because they're shite
SeaN - you're the CyberKrug winner. What's THAT about? Whyever C?
I own nearly everything recorded by Saints:
Joni of Mitchell
Bob of Dylan
Lucinda of Williams
George of Jones
Steely of Dan
Stevie of Wonder.
But apparently I also own plenty of Eliza Carthy (and other various Carthies), Elvis Costello, Sam Cooke, Lloyd Cole, Cameo (Word UP!), a number of recordings of Couperin's Leçons de Tenebre . . . and there they all are, teetering on the C pile.
SeaN, you're a genius.
Sorry about the QotSA - keep meaning to remedy this lacuna but never quite get around to it. At least St Freddie of Mercury is marvellously, soothingly absent. (Sound of ducking behind parapets . . .)

Each to their own. The views of other posters in this "thread" (sigh) are not necessarily those of the originator. CD piles can go down as well as up. Listening to "A Night at the Opera" can seriously damage your health.

Well exactly, one poster's shite is another's pearl (albeit a rather stinky brown one)
No, it was "A Kind of Magic" I was listening to that caused me to end up in hospital with stitches (don't ask, I'm not explaining.)

I once had my record collection soerted into alphabetical oredr of title of the albums.
Teneded to 'lose' some in that configuration though.
Hi, Am.
Maybe it had something to do with the 16 Cardiacs CDs that must bulk out everyone's collection.

Blushes. But not too much.
O/H (not a music-lover) had a coupla Queen albums when we first got together. Now, I wonder what happened to THEM?
"I want to ride my bicycle,
I want to ride my bike,
I want to ride my bicycle
I want to ride it where I like . . ."
So I rode it over a few bits of old vinyl that had somehow mysteriously found their way into the garage . . . "
Yes, I'm a bad person.

Music collection now sub divided into (loose) genres, each being alphabetically filed (mostly).
BI-cycle! Bi-cycle!
Oy. Enough already.

Q in Douglas's collection comprises Finlay Quaye, Ike Quebec, Queen, Quiet Sun, Quick Silver Messenger Service, Quatermass and Qunintessence.
Biggest piles would be B, D and M; at least 600 in each!
Sue (Douglas looked, I can just about switch on the machinery).

I was always baffled by o/h's orgnaization of LPs and then CDs: mostly alphabetical by artist or band, but if an artist had split off from a band, he or she was still filed with the band (e.g. Ian McCulloch). Now it doesn't bother me - he's put them all on the iPod, via his Mac, and we just listen to randomised tracks. It's much better: you never have to make a choice; the music never stops when you don't want it to; you never know what you're going to hear next.
The only problem is: after 33 years of happily sharing musical tastes he's taken to Marilyn Manson. And the more I complain about it the more he says "oh, I'll have to get some more of them then!" I guess I'll just have to like it. After all, he doesn't complain about the Archers or other items on Radio 4.
