My dear OH gave an elderly friend a lift home. Alas, when elderly friend got out of the car, he left a damp patch on the front passenger seat. I've tried washing it with Cilit Bang, but there's still a whiff. One of those times when I wish we had leather not fabric seats. Any tips? Does Febr***ze work? (Of course, the whiff might be the Cilit Bang...)
Vinegar.......google it

Biological washing powders are good to get rid of cat urine, and you can get a product called 'urine off'.
Dunno about humans, should imagine its similar. Though worth trying Fabr**ze as its always been good for other stuff for me
Febreze sort of works, but the "light scents" they add can be as bad as the original smell.
Try putting a layer of bicarbonate of soda over it, mist the air above with clean water and let it settle overnight before scrubbing it away. I haven't tried it myself, but it was once recommended to me. It doesn't sound like it'd do much harm.
You can get something called Wee Away from Amazon specially for this problem.
It works........don't ask.

Vinegar and bicarb - nothing beats it and you aren't left with chemically smells. Products like Febreze just mask the smell, don't get rid of it.

I'd love to have seen them brainstorming that name.

What is it with these posts with a box that has a little multi coloured square in it?
I have never used the Wee Away without singing The Lion Sleeps Tonight and now I will have the ear worm all day.
It has enzymes that break dow the bacteria that create the smell so it doesn't ' act to mask it.
It's very good and I've just given some to friends who have a new puppy. Works on all sorts of wee.

Fourteenbore, do you use "The Script"? If so, go to the grey-on-black "config" link near the top-left corner of the page and look about 2/3rds down on the "Redecorate" tab. Make sure it's set to say "when images are to be shown, use the *h2g2* emoticon set".
That way, things like and will show up as intended.

We had a bad urine stain on a mattress. Even dried out, it looked terrible. I used one of those Vanish Oxy sprays which is supposed to interact with 'biological' stains and produce oxygen, so you see it fizzing (hope this is not too scientific ; - ) )
Anyway we sprayed it heavily and left it to dry for a couple of days in the air. Result was complete disappearance of both smell and stain.
If this is likely to be a recurring problem, you can get some kind of treatment for fabric car seats, so that stains don't soak in and can be wiped off. I agreed to have this applied to my car when I bought it and it seems to work ok. It was recommended to me because I would be regularly ferrying small children about. It has only been tested against spilled drinks and sticky fingers so far.

I downloaded the "Script" ages ago, but don't know how to use it. I am using Google Chrome.

Oooooh! Do you remember which of the many "Vanish" sprays it was?
I have a similar problem. No smell, but a big circular stain on the mattress of my bed where the previous owner's six-year-old daughter peed herself in the night. (Hey! It meant I got a £1000 bed for £50, so I'm not complaining!)

Peet I've looked in the cupboard and can't find it, so I guess we used it all up. I'm pretty sure it was recommended to me on here, so maybe someone else knows?
But if not, I will be going to the supermarket later today, so I will browse the shelves and come back with a name.

Cheers! I'll be ordering it online, so I don't get the opportunity to read the backs of all the different bottles to compare.

Some mod has deleted my post.
It gave a link to a photograph of an actual shampoo product.
This is on sale ,in our shops but prim mod thinks we can't handle the shock...................................oh dear!

If I'm careful, I should just be able to flip it over on top of a bath towel... (The stain is in the middle, and it's a big block of memory foam so it's non-porous.)
I've just remembered this...never used it, & I'm not endorsing it, just supplying the information....
When I was a PH driver I had leather seats especially for these sort of occurences.
Must be good, Ell - it's sold out (none available for 5 weeks!).

If you're still here, Peet - did it work?
Sadly, I forgot to order it last time, so it's still in the "planning" stage.
