The Bull: Three million nine hundred thousand and twenty two replies.
TA : One million six hundred and ninety two thousand and forty four replies
Village Hall: five hundred and twenty two thousand six hundred and sixty nine replies.
Fantasy Archer: twenty two thousand five hundred and eighty eight replies.
Gosh. No wonder my fingers are tired.
I don't know if these were carried over from the old boards or not, but still pretty impressive.

A world captured for very little cost, a historic document of enormous scope, a huge cross reference to social media of the late 20th and early 21st centuries.
Only a barbarian would consider the destruction of such an archive.
This is worse than the Taliban and the Buddha statues.
I never thought I would compare a public body of GB with such a group as the Taliban.

Over 5 million posts on four of the eight boards. Not bad going for a minority interest....

Whereas I've just been taking a look at the volume of traffic on the blogs and twitter - the blogs rarely seem to get into double figures and if The Archers was the only thing in your twitterfeed it would barely be worth looking at it.

Cheers.
So about 970,000 posts a year
I wonder whether any other bits of the ´óÏó´«Ã½ attract as much licence payer input a year as that.

by going back to a millisecond after the big bang, as it were and having a butcher's at page four thousand three hundred and eighty four (!) of the Bull it looks like it was on the 19th October 2005

The problem with these numbers is that they do rather confirm the party line, namely that the number of posters is quite small - 4 million posts on the Bull since late 2005 is only about 1500 posts a day.

well the statistic is meaningless unless we have the figures of other boards to compare to...
Say the board of any other soap opera?
Any other TV or radion programme if you like?
I am not sure where ML would rank in that but would be interested
What is the ´óÏó´«Ã½s highest numbered board? (or twitter feed / blog given they have shut many)
It is just on the ´óÏó´«Ã½ news the Have Your Say part sometimes goes about 1000 on controversial topics... but often is only 500 comments or so... that is not a lot when you consider just how big the ´óÏó´«Ã½ world news audience must be

I wonder how many of them simply say "Snork" or "I'm at Peets".....
The volume of traffic is totally irrelevant; the number of users is much more so. The simple fact is the board is closing and any energy campaigning against its closure is simply wasted energy. There are alternatives out there run by people from this boards and, although I'll not be joining Peet's or any of the other clones of this one, I'd suggest to those who are determined to keep an Archers board going that it's time to move on to them......

Sure the board is going to close. I think we all know that but there is no right or wrong way to accept its passing
Those who wish to argue are entitled to... and when you are given a reason for the removal of something you are quite entitled to question its veracity and seek more context
So lets us celebrate our diverse range of responses and room for everyone even in the dying of the board

Exactly. A casual scan of the ´óÏó´«Ã½ News pages will show a far greater user response. The figures indicate about 10000 regular viewers and fewer than 1000 regular contributors, which isn't inconsistent with 1500 posts per day over the history. I must say, I was surprised that the number of regular contributors was given as close to 1000 - surprised it was that high, that is.

Well yes, that would happen wouldn't it.
And it's only right and proper to compare the ´óÏó´«Ã½ News online pages, national, regional, international, 24 hour coverage, hundreds of journalists ect ect, with a messageboard originally based around a 15 minute (not Sat) soap opera about a fictional rural community . I can see that.

The messageboard doesn't cover only the Archers. It's open ended, actually even more so than the ´óÏó´«Ã½ news page. Why exactly should the ´óÏó´«Ã½ provide a messageboard so that approx 0.001% of the population can post opinions? Seems that you don't see very much do you?

Although, the Archers Tweetalong 7-7:15 and during the Minibus gets the Archers hashtag ( #thearchers) trending in the UK!

The strangest things trend at times - the planning consent for the new Bristol Rovers stadium was trending a couple of weeks ago - I find it hard to believe that all that many thousands were tweeting about it.
