Just to say that irene may possibly be my very favourite poster ever on these boards and I shall miss her very much indeed when we are closed down.
MWAH to you, irene, and all the very best to you and yours.

You'll see her in your dreams...
fwiw Goldilocks, I've always enjoyed and appreciated your posts and your presence. Thank you.
(oh.. there's a real danger that this could get terribly mushy, or spatty, or both)
jont {;¬· >···{
Oh. I may have to call back in to the spat thread and flounce again, on account of not being your favourite poster ever...
Will you be at Peet's, per chance? You and I rarely seem to co-thread* these days.
* yes. A word AND a verb. So there.
aah most kind, goldi. all mutual. theres a farewell sing song going on somewhere of other, if you fancy it.

ooh, you're chancing it there goldiwummin! She can still call you to the study you know!
But ach, I'll gladly join you anyway in a goodbye wobbly curtsey to irene. If I could think of a female equivalent of 'an officer and a gentleman' I would surely use it to describe her.

It may come as some surprise to you, but I was never that irascible, unless provoked.
Oooh- must have that played at my funeral (not just yet of course) as that's my RL name!
But decisions.... will it be Seeger, Clapton or Pogues? Clapton I think.....like the guitar virtuoso bit.

Aw, thanks, jont. I always enjoy your posts as well - nowt wrong with getting mushy IMO. Are you still flying with the kites?
Geepers - MWAH!
A little bird told me that you are getting married...........or is that just a rumour?
I won't be migrating to another MB, but I am signed in to Peet's for emailing purposes.

Must add my twopennorth, too, Irene. Sorry, had to give you a capital I, my spellchecker insisted. I've enjoyed bumping into you every now and then, though we rarely seem to collide these days. I hope you received the Valentine I sent you last Thursday. I did send it rather late, admittedly.

oh irene won't you come on to somewhere else? i hate to think that we'll never see you again, going to peet's (or wherever) has to be preferable to having to watch out for stalkers every time you go to waitrose...
You'll see her in your dreams...Â
in which you'll be either serving her tea at your house out of a giant bone china teapot, or naked, or (hazardously) both.

I suppose it's time to admit to being a member of the irene fan club. Hard to believe i won't be speaking to you after Monday, unless you relent and join Peet's.
It's been good my friend.

Difficult to nominate just one favourite all time poster but irene certainly fits the bill.
The Ry cooder version is my fave too.
Just seen this thread.
Goodbye irene, you were one of my favourite posters. Bunny and I will think of you, especially if and when that day comes.
irene, indeed, we will miss you so hope you will do a u-turn and turn up in one of the alternative places.
Well, I guess I've made that pretty clear by now.

irene has taught me much. Introduced me to new (old) music and helped me learn to be a better poster. Had a lot of fun too.
we will miss you so hope you will do a u-turn and turn up in one of the alternative places.Â
Yes please, irene.
Besides anything else, how can I give reports on my snogging duties if you're not around? I was very diligent at the Tate yesterday.

I want to join the fan club please.
Loved chatting to you Irene, in fact I've just listened to The folks Who Live On The Hill - Peggy Lee, come on who else can I get ridiculously sentimental with.
Plus who else will listen to my ravings about Marlon Brando, eh? eh?
Don't leave us Ireneless, join us somewhere....
This is for you, sista, don't know if you're going to be in tomorrow and I'm off to bed now.
Thank you for everything over the past nine years. I've enjoyed every minute of your company. I don't think we've ever fallen out and we've had such fun. I'm going to be completely bereft, apart from anything else who am I going to swap trivia with from now on?
I'm still in awe of how you've given so much of yourself here while still remaining a very private person. Respect!
Do you remember that time back in 2004 when I ran away from a certain person? I was quite a messageboard newbie at the time and didn't know how to handle the cyberstalking. Celtic Tiger called it the most melodramatic flounce in the history of the board (never forgotten that). You and I had been having a discussion about old songs and I posted the words of a few songs my granny used to sing. So, I came across a few versions of I'll Be All Smiles Tonight on YouTube. That was one of hers, written in waltz time in the 19th century but the only versions I can find are sort of bluegrass and C&W but here they are for you:
There are loads of others which you might prefer.
Here's the largest glass of sauvignon blanc you can imagine. If you're in tomorrow it will have to be cappuccino and danish before noon.
I always knew this time would come sooner or later but I shall miss you my wonderful, darling, cyber sister.
Cheers, me dear!

Yeah. Wot SF said.
I will miss you irene, which is only right and proper because I feel tremendously honoured to have been missed *by* you during an enforced ML-less time I had some years back. No other bu99er even noticed I'd gone.
So, let me say I would ADORE it if you popped your head around the door at Peet's every now and then, but if you don't I shall understand, and think of you very often and always with fervent wishes that all is well and wonderful in your world. Plus I shall tell whichever of your celebrity 'spots' I see first to look out for a woman with a sparkly hat at their local Waitrose.

oh irene
I can't believe how sad I feel. It reminds me of when I was 16 and my sister emigrated with my nephews, I knew that effectively we'd lost them as they would be different people when we saw them again and now it feels like another 'family' being broken up.

Settle down now, AF. Adding my good wishes to all the others. Just wanted to say I have never forgotten how you defended me when people misunderstood my Hurricane Dean thread yonks ago. It gave me a terrific boost.
Not sure yet if I'll be joining another ML board. But if I do, I would love to have you setting up your infamous Study there!
no blubbing or you won't win the mrs joyful prize for rafia work.
there's something you can can do about this, irene!
