Morning, Dirigibles. Seems you do. Why despondent this morning, though?
Anyway, I'm up early because I need to "scrub up" for a session in the office to show what's been happening as regards jobs (answer: not much; there are far too few suitable jobs). Then lunch, and an appointment with my hairdresser for her to cut this fringe into a tidier shape!

Ah, I see. I think quite a lot of us are. I certainly am. I hope those of us who want to continue being part of ML will find a happy home in Peet's, Sue's and/or FB. (I post in Sue's and FB, and lurk in Peet's, though there's seldom anything in Peet's that I care to join in with.)

Morning all.
I am not quite as sad as I was, because it has proved to be a time of new beginnings for me.
Whilst Peet's always confused me, the new home on Sue's site is very easy to use, and, with the aid of my trusty little tablet, I have been able to meet up with so many old ( and potential new) friends.
Good coming out of bad .
I will try to hold that thought.
Any news on Rod?

Rod's appointment wasn't until Monday, I think, Pat.
'Bout time too, Organistswife!
Good morning from Germany.
February is always a despondent sort of month for me anyway. We still have snow and it feels like spring will never come.
Yesterday's lessons were enlivened by the discovery of an unexploded WW2 bomb quite nearby, a large area of the city was evacuated (including me and my participants) while the bomb disposal man went to work.

Was it uncovered by building work, Borneomom? Not something you here of much nowadays. I remember as a child the time when the dustbinman gingerly brought my mother a small incendiary device, balanced in the lid of a dustbin. My mother was not impresssed, but my father was the village bobby and so she was used to odd things.
Sorry that you haven't slept well, Organistswife.
Come on in, Oldgel46, and have a cuppa.

Morning All pre-Office.
Sounds almost as scary as Dirigibles' coffee, borneomum. We get the odd such thing swept up on the coast here from time to time.
Thursday is bin day but I don't seem to have created much rubbish this week so I will give it a miss.
Yes, I don't know what was being excavated, but it was uncovered by a digger. It is a not infrequent happening in Germany, a few weeks ago the same thing happened in Hannover.
Yesterday evening the bomb disposal man was on TV showing the 'excellent quality' of the British fuse, which was still shiny. It had been dropped in 1944.

I'll try to make you a decent one, Sussex.
Horrible dream - OH and I were wandering around the garden when we saw a rat. OH told me to keep an eye on it while he went in to fetch his gun. As I watched, the rat was joined by a huge monkey, which sat down and played with it, then got up, washed its hands at the outdoor tap, then wandered off. I have a horror of monkeys, they make me shudder, like some people do with spiders. Still, at least OH was back from Monmouthshire.
(You must be glad that there's only a few more days of this)

Borneo mum, your incendiary device story has reminded me of the era of regular IRA problems over here.
At that time, I was working in a large shopping/office block.
Every unit had warning lights installed .
When the red light flashed, we were obliged to evacuate the building.
At one point, this became a daily, or even several times daily, occurrence.
We would decamp en masse to one of the nearby cafes.
( so close by that we would probably have been incinerated by any explosion anyway).
At one point, we began to speculate that perhaps the provenders of hot drinks and comestibles were operating a rota to ring in bomb scares whenever trade was a bit lacking.
After a time, we became so blas茅, that we just carried on working.
We would have been sitting targets - literally.

Getting ready to head off - not a normal Commute, as I'm heading off for Scotland tonight for (another) Nevent on tomorrow - and back tomorrow night for the Tate meet! Hope to be keeping in touch today anyway.
Oh yes, excellent British manufacture there, Borneomom. Not unheard of in Lunnon, either.
Certainly chilly here, but haven't checked on the frost level yet.
Hope all have as good a day as possible.

What an extraordinary day, Borneomum!
I managed a brief catch-up last night but not to post. I do hope there is good news about Rod's foot.

My lateness is for the same reason as OWs. I am most envious of your exciting nocturnal life, Diri. I seldom dream or at any rate remember dreaming. Isn't dreamin supposed to be good for your mental health because your brain sorts things out while you're asleep? or have I just made that up?
Coffee is made.
Good job I checked the opening hours of the archives yesterday. They have moved! Looking at the catalogue on-line it looks as though they have discovered some 'new' atuff in the process. Apparently they are filming a detective series at the old building so perhaps O-D can give them some technical advice while I'm with the friendly archivist. He had planned to go to the beach but somehow I don't think it's the right weetaher for bikini spotting.

Wow, Borneomum, I remember stories like that when I was younger, I hadn't thought of it still happening.
AES, I saw 'Cats' many (very many) years ago in Edinburgh - it was fantastic. I did hear that someone who had seen it in London and Edinburgh thought the E show was better - the L show getting a bit tired by that time.
I know you are further south, but day trip to London? That's some day out.
Since you were here first maybe I should change (anyway I picked it for the course I was doing when I joined) Will have a think.

Good morning and thanks for the coffee.
I forgat to give my condolences to Rips the other day. I think lurking in 3 places at once is taking its toll.
I am feeling slightly unsettled although I know the kitchen will go on.
Because some people will be out there in FB/Twitterland for their ML fix - and some will not be missed- things will definitely be different. I have spent a lot of my life moving on so I will cope, but ...........
I spent most of yesterday writing a short article in German as OH refused to write it for me but agreed to proof read it afterwards. It took me all day as I needed two dictionaries and my copy of Ealing German for Business. I am now waiting as an exam candidate would for my results. If my quilt group is going to twin with this German group then I am going to need an Anglo/German dictionary in Quilt as well as brushing up on my German which was more conversational than written and also a long time ago.
OK - off to lurk, another few jars of marmalade to get started and some quilting to do.
Back later,

my father was the village bobby and so she was used to odd things聽
My step-father was the village bobby Dirig. My mother was one of the last to be interviewed by the Chief Constable to see whether she was 'suitable'. She subsequently had to deal with people wielding axes and carving knives at the door (not at the same time), assisting the vet with emergency surgery on a cow and acting as a Met Office recorder during the snow of '63. She must have been the right sort!

Yes, it was a looong day, Athena. 5.30 train out of Sunshine City. If that had been late then the whole trip was up a creek. I went to a funeral - can't remember why I didn't fly down.
Hadn't realised I was here first - doesn't matter. Whoever comes up with a good name. Just thought that the board change was as good a time as any.
Talking of such, I would just like it all to be over and done with as well. Faffing around between two boards is time consuming if nothing else. Not that I've done much faffing.

Good day all.
Sunny and very chilly here today. This morning I'm having an on-call session for my volunteer job. That phone never goes and so far it's rung 4 times in 15 minutes. However, none of the calls were of any interest - people checking the number because other people had rung them to say they couldn't get through. No idea what's going on. Thankfully I switched the phone on in good time so it can't be my fault.
I never did get those minutes written so maybe that could be my task for this morning.
I finally managed to order some new house phones yesterday. What a palaver. According to the track and trace info they will be here between 14.30 and 16.30. We shall see.
But before doing anything that requires brainpower I need copious quantities of tea.

Good morning everyone and thank you for such a warm welcome! I'll pop my own Tea Caddy on the shelf if I may. Used to be coffee all the time, but soon even decaf played havoc with migraine,, and I've never really enjoyed tea. So (whispers) now it's herbal stuff that needs to be dunked for a long time!
I'm a bit later this morning as I didn't get to sleep until the early hours - I blame the excitement of actually knocking on the kitchen door after a number of years!
Wonder if I'll make it onto the first page? Probably not, as I'll be queued to make sure I'm suitable!
Not going to worry about getting my name with a capital letter on this board, although as (another) retired teacher, it irks to see a name starting with lower case!
